A really fun dinner party!?

I once attended a very unique party but I can't remember what it was called. It envolved several courses and a menu that each guest picked what they wanted for course. The twist was that the items on the menu were not identified by the name of the food. It was more like a clue, a puzzle, a mind teaser or just something goofey that you would never connect with what it actually was until you saw it on the plate and then you would get it. Example: Avalanch=mashed potatoes, snow ball=scoop of vanilla ice cream. Even the utensils were on the menu. The way it worked out, you could end up with desert first, meat with no utensils, ect... It was really funny and everyone had a great time. Anyone know what this is called or have a menu for one?

I never heard of that, but it sounds like a lot of fun. The closest thing I know of is going from house to house for different courses of a meal.

I've been to a fun dinner a few times once as guest and then as a server. You think of things thatt ewould be a good food as back jewel ( black olive, duo love ( spoon) Peredue's love ( piece of chicken). It's a 3 course meal but you don't always get it in order. It is a fun night when you wonder what you'll get..

I've been to a fun dinner as a guest and server. You pick out your menu from a list of clues as jewel is a black olive, lovers duo is a spoon, Perdues's love is chicken, rabbit love is a salad

That sounds a lot like the party I was at. Can you remember what it was called? I remember that the hostess made upe the clues so it wasn't exactly the same with the black olive ect... But it sounds like the same basic idea. Can you remember anymore clues or anything to help me put this kind of party together? Thanks for the response!

We had a dinner similar to what you are describing but instead of using words, we picked our food by number with the same results. You may get a fork and ice cream and a napkin for course 1, etc. It was called a Mystery Dinner and the teenagers loved it. We did one for our oldest daughter's 16 th birthday party. We were fortunate enough to own a small restaurant at that time. We held the dinner after hours on a Saturday and it went over really, really well.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I think I've heard of a "moving" murder mystery/dinner party type thing as well. Solve as you eat I guess!!

Thank you Harriet. That sounds just like it using numbers instead of the hints/clues that we had. I can't remember how many courses or how many items were picked for each course. If you can remember any other details I'd appreciate it. If not I will put my imagination to work and come up with something as close as I can get. The main thing is the fun and being with friends. It sure was fun!
