When we were first married we had a real tree...usually pretty skimpy as we couldn't afford much. When my husband was in the army in Colorado I made most of the ornaments. We cut tin cans in strips and twisted them. Later after both kids were born we found out that our younger child, our son, was allergic, so we bought a fake tree. We used that for many years until he moved out. Now we have a real tree every year. Guess what, he is married with two kids and now he has a real tree too.
When I was a child we always had real trees. My Dad would take us on a tree hunt to find the best one. It just got to be too much to do it, so we went to artificial trees. Think Dad got tired of going out in the cold all the time. My husband and I have always had an artificial tree. Problem now is that he bought one that is so big it takes up a good deal of the living room. I've been lobbying for a smaller one LOL. It would be so much easier to put up and take down.
