Now that we are empty nesters, if we decorate, we take it all down on Christmas day afternoon.

I probably will undecorate some today, it will probably take a few weekends. I agree they never seem to be able to get put away the same way they were unpacked. Hopefully I'll be finished by the middle of January. Then it seems a little sad and drab without the decorations.

I usually put mine away New Year's day but it will be difficult as i lost my sister last New Year's day ..wasnt looking forward to the holidays this year but i muttled throught them....as they say time heals

Connie, I'm so sorry for you loss and to all the VBBers who have suffered losses this year as well as throughout the past few years. As you said, time heals the immediate pain but thank the Lord, it doesn't take the happy memories away

My cleaning lady is coming today, so I really should have already started.....but I didn't, so things will probably start going away tomorrow. My husband is really good about helping, which is nice, but I still have to take the tree ornaments off and put them carefully away. That really takes time...UGH!! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Today I should start my spring cleaning but it's pouring down rain and it's dreary out so I think I will play on the computer. Last week at this time we had a blizzard with sub zero temps. Yesterday an earthquake and tornado on the ground today so we have had our share of all types of weather.

This morning I skipped breakfast with friends and got to painting in the church basement. The fire station is next door to the church .... I'm painting hard and fast in the basement hallway when the tornado sirens started. Wow.

MY CATS WERE HOME ALONE. I was concerned about driving in such a storm so I kept painting until I felt OK to drive away. I went into the auditorium to get my stuff .... good grief, the floor was flooded. I started scrubbing and the sirens went off again.

Finally I felt safe to drive away - no damage around the church .... no damage anywhere. My cats are fine, the cats next door are fine. The small towns around here, near St. Louis, were hammered..... hideous damage. Many awful tornadoes. I've gotten emails from all over the USA from people seeing this damage on TV and they're concerned about me. My cats are fine - that's what counts for me.

WOO HOO!! Decorations are down! Yeah!! My husband still has to do the outside lights, but it is too cold today. Glad all the inside is clean though. It always seems a little drab and empty when everything is put away.

I took mine down last Jan. Never put up any this year. It always frustrated me that I was the only one that put them up, the only one that took them down. So I said I wasn't going to do it this year. To tell the truth I didn't miss them.
Will see what next year brings.....

We've always waited until after Little Christmas on January 6th. Depending upon what day of the week it falls. Usually wait until the weekend. Depends upon what is happening.

Nikki - I took my decorations down in 2007 (2007!!!) and said I wouldn't struggle any more. I haven't.

January 6th (Epiphany also called Three Kings Day),but I leave all the fake poinsettia plants out along with the front door wreath for the rest of January, then I put out a "few" Valentine items which will stay till the weekend after.

Collecting the points might be as useful as collecting dust, we still don't know what they will be used for.
In the past they were reset at the new year (which would be fair to start us all out equally, now that they seem to be working daily).
Too bad the coupons still will not print for me.
