PEPPERONI BREAD

I have been making this for years and everyone really enjoys this,You can use frozen bread dough for this but I make my own : 1/2 cup milk,3 Tabs.sugar, 2 teas.salt, 3 Tabs.butter or margarine,2 packages of active dry yeast 1 1/2 cups of warm water (105*-115*),5-6 cups all purpose flour.Combine milk,sugar,salt and butter in a small sauce pan and heat to melt butter and dissolve sugar,cool to luke warm.Dissolve yeast in warm water,add this to luke warm milk mixture and 4 1/2 cups of flour mix well and keep adding 1/2 cup of flour at a time until dough is a good consistansy then knead until smooth and elastic.Place in a grease bowl and flip over to grease all sides, cover and allow to rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.punch down and divide in 2,roll out the dough until it is about 1/4 in and cover with sliced pepperoni don't be shy and roll up pinching the two sides and turn under.Place on a greased cookie sheet and cover allow to double in size,about an hour.pre heat oven to 400* and bake for 30 mins or until done.Yield 2 loaves I serve sliced in 3/4 inch slices with a bowl of pizza sauce on the side.

This does sound yummy. I just made a frozen bread. It sat at room temp all night to rise. It looks good, waiting for it to cool and for the family to wake up.

Hi Nancy, yes you can,let it thaw,roll out put pepperoni on,roll up and let it rise and bake according to breads directions.Do you still have the cookbook that came with your Kichen Aide,thats the bread recipe I started using for this.If you use that recipe put the pepperoni on before the second rise.Is not hard Nancy just let the mixer do the work for you.I buy my yeast @ Costco,because I do use a lot and even if I throw some out no big deal,they sell the yeast in a 1# package for around $4.00 that's a huge savings over the little packages in the dairy dept.that sell for almost $2.00.Good Luck let me know if you try it.

A local store makes something like this but chops it up so it can be pulled apart. They charge almost $4.00 for a small "chop bread" One of the other flavors that they have is a jalapeno and cheddar they also have a pepper and onion. they also take the same dough and put it in muffin pans and sell the muffin rolls for almost $2.00 each.
This sure is a lot less expensive and just as good.
