Our turkey was $40 weighing in at 23.6 lbs.  Gotta have our Butterball!!  We get 2 free turkeys from my husbands civilian job at the local hospital....we swap our Christmas ham ticket with a co-worker (he gets 2 hams)......I usually donate one to the local RCS and keep one in the freezer for a mid winter Sunday supper or if we are going to have extra guests at our table...hubby fries one of them.  12 lb'ers don't quite cut it for the hearty eaters around here!! Wink

Gale I haven't looked for prices yet.  And  I've never even heard of a free turkey!
I buy only those bone-in turkey breasts.

One of the stores here offers turkeys at 30 cents a pound less if you buy an additional $20 in groceries. Regular price is 89 cents per pound. It's not a bad deal b/c I purchase other items for Thanksgiving dinner that this store has on sale.

I must be living in the wrong part of town/state!!  I always get a fresh turkey from a market, and the price is way out of line this year!!  Last year, it was $1.49 per pound, and this year one brand is $1.99 per pound, and another is at $2.99 per pound.  That's way out of my range!!  We always get a 20-22 pound turkey.......that's too much for me!!  Guess I'll have to settle for a frozen one this year.

Food Lion has them for 49 cents per pound if you spend $35 additional.  Not hard to do at a grocery store.  You can buy two of them.  I might have to get one.

GFS has Hen Turkeys for .49 cents # with an additional $25 purchase.Which isn't a bad deal if your buy some of your groceries there. They service food chains and things are much like the clubs but smaller with no annual fee.During the holidays they have an 8oz.bottle of vanilla extract for under $5 which is an awesome deal compared to the small bottle in the grocery store.I bought all my half sheet pans for under $6 each these are restaurant quality pans.I can't wait for the holidays really looking forward to celebrating.
