Fruit pies are good if they aren't too sweet.  Some people put too much sugar in them.  Two of my favorites are rhubarb and gooseberry.  One doesn't see gooseberry very often. My mother taught me how to make a good crust and mine are always good.  I've been to pot lucks where someone brought a pie with inedible crust.  I made a chocolate pecan for Christmas and it was wonderful

I am not good at making pies, but several times a year I do make pumpkin, apple & cherry because hubby likes them.

Ann, I love the fact that you included pizza!

I am a firm believer that good pies take practice.  Best thing is you get to eat the "failures".
It is a matter of the balance between a "wet" pie or a pie that is not as juicy.  Custard pies all seem to get soggy bottoms if you don't bake them on a lower rack.  Same with juicy fruit pies.
I "discovered" a cranberry streussel pie that has become a favorite of mine.  I plan on adjusting it to make it a crisp.  Not a great leap, just remove the bottom crust and you have a crisp.

I do love chocolate pies and I have a recipe for a peanut butter pie that is a go to pie when I get the craving for chocolate and peanut butter. What better combo can you get?

So, Laura, welcome to Very Best Baking and I am sure you will find all the pie recipes and ideas you want.

Hello....yes I love pie....I love so many different ones but today I am leaning more to a fresh homemade strawberry pie....I enjoy making pies and like some said, they don't always look perfect but they do taste good.

Is there a way to get a message after someone replys to my answer on this site? Thank you.

My husband and I were visiting Germany a number of years back.  We were actually staying in a castle in Imshausen.  Another American well know for her pie baking was staying there at the time and she made pie for the group of us.  The German folks didn't care for it at all and barely tasted it.

My father and I were really fond of homemade pie and, since Mom didn't make pies, we would take any occasion to hunt down homemade pie.  I remember leaving a major highway and driving miles back into the country after seeing a sign for homemade pies while the family was traveling on vacation.

I do love pies....however.....for the life of me, I cannot bake a good pie.  Either the crust is soggy, too brown, too grainy, or just yukky!!  Thank goodness there is a great bakery just about a mile from us, and we frequent it often!!  My favorite pies are lemon, and of course, strawberry/rhubarb!  YUM!!

I found an amazing recipe for a lemon pie.  The show Americas Test Kitchen or it could have been Cooks Country sis a Shaker Lemon Pie.  It used the whole lemon, peel and all.  Very lemony pie.  If I can find my recipe I will post it, I think I posted once before but well worth a repeat.
As to the crust again either Americas's Test Kitchen or Cooks Country suggested using vodka in place of some of the water.  You can add more liquid because the vodka evaporates and you get a light flaky crust that is easy to work with because of the extra liquid.
