Looking for a recipe

Back in the late 1950's or early 1960's my Mom made a Christmas treat made with orange sections (with membrane intact) which she dipped in a hot syrup mixture and then rolled in coconut.  She had lost this recipe before she passed away and I was wondering if anybody would have a recipe similar to this.  Thank you very much!

This is a wild guess but if it was just orange slices and coconut this is what I would do.
Make a simple syrup.  I would make it a rather heavy one, 1 Cup sugar and 1/4 to 1/2 cup water.  Heat in a sauce pan until sugar dissolves.  If the mixture seems thin you could continue to heat it until some of the water evaporates but that may "invite" sugar crystals to form so add a tablespoon of corn syrup to prevent that.
Once you have the syrup add the orange slices.  I would let them soak a bit, 1 minute should do it.  The longer they soak the sweeter.
Place slices on a plate with coconut on it and add more coconut over the top. 
Not sure if you meant orange slices or segments but either way would work.
The coconut will have more flavor it you toast it a bit before you add oranges.  But it will not be white.
Hope this helps and even more important I hope this sounds correct. Sounds like it would make a great salad.  It would also be great with a pork or chicken dish.

Thanks for the kind words, I just hope it helps out with the recipe.  I know how heart breaking it is to have "lost" a recipe that means a lot.  It is amazing how we tie family and food together and when you lose one or both it can leave an empty spot that is hard to fill. 
I can't stress enough how important it is to write down and pass on the recipes that you have grown to love.  Best yet if you can do a video of "Grandma Gertrude" or "Aunt Mildred" making "Her" brisket or "The" Chocolate rum balls. Things like that are what make the memories that we all come to appreciate later on. Time flies and people and traditions disappear quickly.

I have a recipe that was passed down in our family that came from France during the War.  It is for Angel Food Pie and I would be heart broken if I lost it!  I am not allow to share it as I did one year with a newspaper and boy was Granny cooked!!!
