There is actually a poem for "The cookie plate" that say's to pass the plate on and fill it with sweets. I'll look the poem up and post when they allow. I gave my daughter in law a plate and it passed all through her family. Some how it came back to me now. This time I will encourage those who have the plate to sign and date on the plate back. That way we can see how many times we passed on our sweet love.

The "cookie plate" sounds like a wonderful idea--a thoughtful gift with the homemade touch.

I also like making up "mixes in the jar" for gifts--muffin and cookie mixes are always a welcome gift during the holidays (or anytime really). The different layers make for an attractive presentation. Cover the lid with a piece of holiday fabric, tie with a bow, and include a card with the printed recipe--set to go.

Keeping in mind the gift recipient's personal favorites, maybe a jar of candy, or nuts, or granola would be a better gift--fill the jar, and finish off with the fabric and bow. Easy, but with a personal touch (which is always appreciated).

I have given neighbors and friends plates of Christmas cookie and candy for years. I've always been amazed when some of them try to return the plate to me. I encourage them to pass it on to someone else next Christmas.

Homemade gifts are the best! Now if we could only convince the grandkids that they don't need all those expensive electronic things that their friends are getting LOL.

I dont buy gifts for the older people because I make them cookies and their breads for a gift .

One of the best places to find pretty plates to use for gifts is your local Goodwill, Salvation Army or Church Rummage sale. Plates of any size are great but don't forget Tea or Coffee Cups and saucers. Baskets of almost any size and shape are also available most of the time.
Not only are you giving a gift that will look pretty but you are taking recycling to another level and supporting good and worthy organizations.

My girlfriend and I pass plates back and forth all year long.we were both taught to always send something back when something was sent to us.This goes on until one of us says ok no more lol

I just cut my fresh mint brownies and piled them on a pretty plate....... they go to church tomorrow morning.
I bet someone there will want that plate.

Well, they go to church tomorrow morning IF I can get there. I am so worried about tomorrow's weather.

Very few people made it to church Sunday morning -- such bad weather. But the ones there were delighted with the mint brownies.

I've been so very bad eating cookies or should I say "sampling" LOL to make sure that they tasted good, guess I'm gonna get coal for being so bad...LOL. Yes I am a very young at heart person even though I have had my share and then some of bad health and surgeries. Your as young as you want to be is my mantra! I'm know as a prankster and a joker telling jokes all the time!
