I, too, did not have the oportunity to know either Grandfather and my father died when I was a senoir in High School and my husbands dad died when he was eighteen so our sons did not have the opportunity to know thier granddads either.
However both boys have a good relationship with their dad and will make the day special for him.  The son who lives two states away will be coming and the son who lives close will bring the granddaughters by to visit so it will be a great day!
His favorites on the menu and lots of conversation.

In Response to Re: FATHERS DAY - JUNE 19TH : A word of encouragement to you Paul and others.  It really helps when they get out on their own, begin to raise their own families and have to face the grind of everyday living.  It is amazing to see how that "wises" them up, how much better they get along, even with you.

Oh I know it will get better,it really isn't that bad now.   It is just nice to see them.  I don't think my parents had any intelligence until I was like 25.  lol  I am sure it will gain smarts as they grow too.

Sadly, my father-in-law passed away over 6 years ago and my Dad about 5 years ago.  Always say a prayer on Father's Day for them both.  I'll have to ask my husband what he wants to do for his day but I'm sure the "kids" will at least call him if they can't come over.

Paul, I hope you have a great Father's Day and get your wish.  Since our kids have been on their own they have gotten along much better with each other and with us lol.   So there is hope!

Oh Thank you.  i am sure it will be a great day.  Though I think we will be moving my daughter back from college that weekend.  Everyday with the kids is a great day, some are just better than others.  lol  I too thnk about my father during father's day and many others for that matter.  Sometimes he gives pretty good advice when I sit and listen.  :-)  He passed in 1983.  I still miss both my mother and father deary.  Everyone is here this weekend so this is like father's day to me.  lol

I will take my Dad out to lunch/dinner if he feels up to it.  Or my brother might decide to cook dinner for him - if his wiffe doe not veto it.

Sunday, Father's Day, I'll have the kids' "art class" that night.  We're going to color some great wooden picture frames and fill them with a photo of the child.  Later, during church service, each child will give the photo to his/her father.

Not really sure yet.  Our kids take their time deciding what to do.  I know our son will be working, but who knows what our daughter will be up to.  She has her own husband to consider too.
Both our Dads passed away years ago, so my husband is the main "Dad" and "Grampa".  He will get to do whatever he wants to do. I will probably fix him a nice dinner.

Both of our Dads are gone.  All of our grown children are joining us for a Father's Day brunch to honor their Dad.

Paul,
I sympathize with you. Our children tend to forget our gifts when they are growing up. I will think of you on this Fathers Day and hope that your wish is granted.
