I never had the pleasure of knowing either of my Grand Fathers.My Daddy passed away when I was fifteen,there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him.He loved us as much as any man could have.I love you and miss you.Always ! For my husband we will make him a nice dinner,or take him out and I'll make a nice desert also.

I will ask my husband what meal he wants and make that for him, since we are unable to go out on Father's Day with his health problem.

Both our Dads & all Grand-dads are deceased; no Dads to honor or gift .
When my Dad was stlil alive always a card &photos in the mail & a phonecall on the day; where he got to repeat time-worn stories &jokes & I reacted as if for the v ery first time.
When finances allowed; a warm winter hat/sweater o r box ofhis fave candies in the mail.
Hubby gets first class treatment from me; who knows if our sons/grands wil pay attention.?

I had a favorite poster of my husband's framed so he can display it properly and enjoy it. I'll also make him a meatloaf dinner, one of his favorites, and hopefully our oldest son will be able to join us for dinner. Our youngest son is in the Navy and is out on the aircraft carrier so he won't be able to join us.

Father's Day becomes more poignant with the passing of our fathers. I will just remember all the good times growing up that were because of him.

I will get cards for my dad and father-in-law and the kids with make them homemade cards. We will spend some time with each of them on the day, but I'm not sure what else we are going to give them.

Paul, I love your post. That's what I wanted for Mother's Day....for my kids to behave and not fight all day long. Sadly, I didn't get it, but I did get to see them. I hope you get to see yours.

Cheryl,I remember one year they marked the fruit for fruit cake down at our local grocery store.I was baking fruit cake in July for my husband.He also loves fruit cake.

Both of our families are all gone, except for our daughter & son. On Mother's Day, I get treated to dinner at the restuarant of my choice, and on Father's Day, my husband is the honored one. It's our daughter that takes us out, as our son and his family live 3 1/2 hours from us. They do send gifts, however. Here's hoping that all Fathers who have any part of their family around them will enjoy their day!

Both of our Dads have passed away. Hubby gets treated like a King and gets whatever he wants!!
I always buy him a gift and fix whatever food he wants. He will get phone calls from his kids!

My Grandfathers where deceased when I was born. As far as my Dad, he passed on from Cancer and I do miss him! I will make a Choc. Cake w/Peanut Butter Icing for my Hubby...his favorite. I pick up a little something from Jinx...lol lol!

A word of encouragement to you Paul and others. It really helps when they get out on their own, begin to raise their own families and have to face the grind of everyday living. It is amazing to see how that "wises" them up, how much better they get along, even with you.
