My daughter in law always makes a lamb cake in a mold. It is part of her family's traditions, plus it is delicious. She uses a lime flavored pound cake, with a lime glaze. If she has any batter left over she makes mini bunny cakes in some molds I bought her several years ago at William Sonoma, We usually get to take a few home. They are great with fresh strawberries and whipped topping or cream.

I have tried the lamb cake and I also have a teddy bear cake and I have had the worst luck with the lamb..his head almost always falls off. So it has to get patched with toothpicks or other reinforcement.
The bear is not quite so bad but his head is a little touch and go at times.
I think it has a lot to do with the cake mix used. A pound cake is much sturdier.
