Hi all,

The holidays are fast approaching and I just wanted to share with everyone some useful advice!  I do a lot of baking and am familiar with tempering chocolate.  Many aren't though and I thought I would share a little info:

While attempting to build a Halloween Gingerbread House with my son for Halloween -As always, within the box, directions for gluing the house together is indicated with white icing (powdered sugar/water).  This is great for decorating.  For gluing?  Not so much.  If you're looking for an inexpensive, QUICK alternative, buy melting chocolates!  Your gingerbread houses will be standing in just minutes, I PROMISE! =)

Happy Baking everyone!! Laughing

Thanks so much!  Probably tastes better than the melted sugar that I usually use as well!

You all are very welcome.  I was sitting at the table holding the pieces together with no end in sight.  The chocolate saved my life! lol  Have fun building houses =)

I have always used Royal Icing, the egg white and powdered sugar mixture, it sets quickly and is like the super glue of confections.  I use the egg white powder rather than fresh egg whites.

Thanks for the "Clues to Glue"!  For the past  4 years, my Grandson and I have made Gingerbread Houses.  I decided I would try to talk him into something else this year because we always had trouble with the "glue".  He lives in Cincinnati, and usually, by the time the house traveled home, it was either leaning completely OR sitting in pieces!  With the aforementioned clues, I am ready to tackle it once again!  THANKS!!
