GRANA here;
Saturday May5 is Cinqo di Mayo( sp) .I have asked several hispanic acquaintences what the day is al about. I neverreally got a deffinitive answer:
A few I was given:
It's likeyour4th ofJuly(Iyour Independence day OR "I don't know"
When we lived in SanDiego(several hispanic neighborhoods& business assssociates;People often had a BBQ; completew/ firecrackers.
I looked it up & it hadsomethingto do w/ aMexican General& hero
The one thing I do know isthat we always eat Mexican food on that day
Depending upon the weather on that day, we mght ave chili OR
a taco salad
OR tacos; quesdillas; enchiladas; burittos, whatever feelllike making.

If you knowmoreabout the day; what it is about ; it'shistory; etc; PLEASE SHARE w:/ me/us.....
If you have special plans( activities/ menus; please share that too.

GRANA here;We had quesadillas( soft tacos folded over er a filling of refried beans; minced roast turkey meat& a Mexican cheese blend; lots of salsa for dipping / scooping; too tired/lazy to make flan or my usual fudge brownies; I opted for soft & chewy chocolate chip cookies; chocolate always seems to ease the hot burning sensation o f jallepenos( in salsa) on my mouth , lips & tongue:>)
