I've been trying to think of a gift for each of the kids in my art class at church..... I know it HAS has to include cookies  :-)
Yesterday, shopping at Walmart, I bought some large, red, paper bags with handles.  I'm going to cut some holly leaves from green construction paper to sort of hang from the handles.  That's fast and inexpensive.
I bought some bags of individually wrapped candy and some beautiful tiny boxes of candy with Bible wrapping. Wow!
Now I consider everything all set.  I'll fill the bags with my cookies in zip-lock bags and the candy ... plus a Bible Verse on a magnet with Christmas trim.

Nancy I'm sure the kids will love your gifts.Very nice idea.I found little ceramic angels and I will be attaching those to a funnel made of a plastic sandwich bag that is filled with dilly dip herbs and spices with the recipe attached all tied with a ribbon, these will be given to neighboors instead of a Christmas card.I'm also doing gifts in a jar,one will be the recipe from you for the spiced nuts and some will be soup mix and other mixes with the recipe attached. On the top of the jar,I'm going to lace a ribbon through a crocheted dollie and tie it all up with pretty ribbon.

The spiced nuts!!  Thank you -- I'd forgotten those.  At the church Thanksgiving dinner I'll be taking an enormous bowl of cookies .... it will be so pretty and nice if I have a good sprinkling of nuts in the bowl.

The broccoli salad I also take has plain sliced almonds .... I think I'll keep those "plain" and skip the spices - lol.

Sounds great Nancy.  God bless you for doing all that for the kids.  Since I always bake a lot of cookies I usually take half of them to my mom and we "exchange".  That way when we make up the plates for friends and family, there is a little bit of everything on each plate.  There are always enough cookies to give away to neighbors too.

Nancy, Just a thought but why not get one of those big containers of plastic cookie cutters and give each child a cookie cutter and a recipe that they can make at home with their moms, dads, or grandmas?  It would be a great way for them to make something for their Christmas table.  Not to mention a lesson in math, giving and a way for parents or grandparents to spend a little quality time with them.
I know it is an added expense but it might be wort it.  Or try finding used cookie cutters at a resale shop, I find all sorts of great things at Goodwill and Salvation Army.  Great bargain for me and I am helping out.

A cookie cutter from the Cookie Lady!!  What a great idea ... and it's a fun idea.
Good old WalMart has some really nice Christmas cookie cutters that are not expensive.

And ~sigh~  As soon as a batch of brownies gets out of the oven I have to go BACK to WalMart.
While I was cleaning at church this morning some men came in to work on some ceiling tile.
I drove back home to get my shop vac, back to church, then cleaned including the baptism tank ...
we're having one tomorrow -- and I started the water.  Continued cleaning.  Getting ready to leave
I heard one of the kids there for music practice talking about the tiny child who had pulled the
plug in the baptism tank and it was really going down.  Oops.

Headed home by way of WalMart .... quickly filled a basket and tried to check out.  My wallet was
not there!!  I had to leave all that stuff and drive home praying hard that my wallet was at home - not stolen.
It was - but I had too much baking to do  to go back out then.  So I've been baking hard and ...
well, not fast.  Lots of cookies and now the brownies.

Anyhow - I talk too much -- back to WalMart in about 20 minutes and I'm going to buy the cookie
cutters.  Thanks Nikki!!
