Chocolate spoons

I think I will make some chocolate covered spoons for little favors for a church tea get together. I'm going to the dollar store to get plastic teaspoons and I will be dipping them in melted Chocolate. Since with have so many varieties of chocolate to choose from I will make some milk chocolate, white chocolate, and decorate them with little flowers or other little edible things. Has anyone ever made the chocolate dipped spoons? Please give me a shout as I have dipped many things but the spoons are a first.

I posted a note last week about some that I made a while back for my sister.
Very easy to make. I used pretty heavy duty plastic ones only because I wanted to make sure they would hold up for a HOT cup of coffee.
I did several types of chocolate dark, milk and I even did a butterscotch. They are good for coffee as well as boosting the flavor of the packets of hot chocolate.
After they were done I wrapped each in a square of plastic wrap and closed it up with a piece of curling ribbon.

That sounds like a great idea,I might do that in some of my gift baskets.What type of chocolate is the best? candy chocolate?Please let me know.

I used several different types of chocolate. I melted chocolate chips for the semi sweet spoons. I melted butterscotch chips for some. The white chocolate I used a bar of Lindt chocolate I happened to have.
I found the best and easiest way was to melt the chocolate in a coffee mug. This way the chocolate was easier to dip into with the spoon. And when I was done I just made a cup of hot chocolate to "clean" the residual chocolate out.

By the way when I made chocolate covered pretzel rods I melted the chocolate in a tall iced tea glass. Melted 3/4 of the chocolate then added the other 1/4 as a cheaters way to "temper" the chocolate. Using the tall glass I was able to hold onto pretzel rod and dip about 3/4 of it into the chocolate keeping my fingers from becoming chocolate covered..

Good grief ... I'm an old woman who has been cooking many years and I've always (since microwaves) melted my dipping chocolate in little, glass cereal bowls -almost FLAT cereal bowls.
What a mess. Using a cup or glass never entered my mind.

Now I'll dip those strawberries in a CUP of chocolate. Amazing.
Why didn't I think of that?

I make a batch of Fudge and dip the spoons in it ... goes great in a cup of coffee
or just have a nice dose of Chocolate

I love the idea of melting the chocolate in a mug! Very Creative!!! Has anyone tried using the Wilton chocolate disks? They come in various flavors and colors, but I doubt that they taste as good as the Nestle products.

WOW who would have thought to use a cup? I have in the past made mock Girl Scout cookies by melting the chips on low in the microwave right in the bag put in a few drops of peppermint, knead and dunked Ritz crackers in a shallow bowl coating the cracker. OH MY GOODNESS they are so close to the real thing. You can also just snip off the corner of the bag and have a small opening to use as a tip to write a GS.

I take cookies or some sort of treat to the kids in my church "art" class every Sunday evening.

I dip the spoons in the hot fudge then lay them on a waxpaper lined baking sheet and cool in fridge
if fudge cools to fast to finish the dipping I keep it on low heat till done

these also freeze really well

Thanks ladies. You've just given me an addition for the Christmas Baskets I make every year. Always looking for something different to put in those. Sometimes when I find unique flavors of jelly, spices or marinated veggies I will buy them for the baskets. It's fun to watch my sisters-in-law go through the baskets and find things they've never seen before. Now to go find some interesting, new hot cocoa mixes LOL.
