BACK TO SCHOOL/LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Over the next few weeks we have children going back to school and some are making plans for a Labor Day picnic, which might be the last picnic for the summer. How sad...signs that summer is coming to an end, or maybe that is a good thing, Fall is on it's way. Weather starts getting cool, leaves changing...what a beautiful season.

So, what are your plans? Are you going to miss the summer or are you looking forward to cool weather and the Fall season?

I won't miss the heat. (But I can always complain about the cold)
My janitor work at church will change because kids will be there for school 5 days a week - yikes!
I'll sure miss the great produce/veggies I can buy now.
I think heating costs are higher than air conditioning ..............
But I'll be safe and warm with a full tummy.

I love Fall. Warm days with cool nights. About the only thing I miss about Summer is fresh produce.

I don't mind Fall. The cooler crisp days sprinkled with the warmer ones that seem to tease you, it is like Mother Nature does not want to let go of summer either.
I do not like the long cold days that are ahead. I really don't mind the cold as much as I don't like the short dark days. I miss the sun when we have the gray days when the sun barely peeks out from behind the steel gray clouds. And the gray clouds match the gray of the sky.
It does make you appreciate the Spring when come December 22 the days, little by little get a bit longer. Not long enough right away to make a difference but one day you look out the window and realize that the street light has not come on or the sky is a dusky color and not dark. Those are the days when you know Spring is closer.

I too cannot take the heat, I never complain about the cold though. My thoughts on the whole thing, I can put enough clothing on to get warm, but you cannot take enough clothing off to get cool! lol

My favorite season is the Fall. My beautiful Blue Mountains are a plethora of vibrant colors. It looks like the good Lord hand painted each leaf. I do miss the fresh produce and flowers. I do NOT like ice and snow!

For Labor Day weekend, I believe my hubby and I will treat ourselves to a Lobster Bake and I will make a home-made Sour Cream Choc. Cake for dessert.

I am looking forward to Fall. It has been too hot this summer and I really didn't enjoy it as much as usual. I will miss the free time, but I'm looking forward to the cool weather and changing leaves.

We are going camping on Labor Day Weekend and it will be hot!! We
don't cool down until Nov., so that is why I go to MI in Sept. so I can
see the fall colors, Mutsu apples, and real apple cider. I love Fall,
not winter.

Remember that you should come to a complete " STOP" for a stopped School Bus. The local law enforcement officers will be out in most states. The fine is 438 dollars plus points on your license.

There will be a BBQ here at my home,we live close to the airports here and the annual Air Show is here.Well' see and hear the different planes pass over head.Maybe we'll take a ride down by the lake and watch them.

We're looking forward to a trip into NC mountain area to pick apples. They aren't ready yet, but apple picking was a favorite activity of mine in the Fall. We live near the beach now and that doesn't make for good apple country here in SC. NY had wonderful apple orchards. When I pick apples, I really feel like it is Fall!

Not sure what I am going to make. I have a few steaks in the oven but they just are not the same with out a grill. They may get tossed under the broiler though.

My Grandson is already back in school, his bus stop is right across from my driveway so he comes here in the morning and he is here after school as well. I told him that during the winter he and the other kids can wait in the garage for the bus so they will be out of the snow, rain or cold wind. (just don't need 15 kids in the house I figure the garage is better than out in the elements)

One of the best fairs is held starting the Wednesday after Labor Day, the Sandwich Fair. I will be going. I did not get the cinnamon roll that I wanted at the Kenosha County Fair and I did not make it to Walworth County Fair this year so the Sandwich Fair will be the one where I get the Cinnamon Rolls from the Silver Dollar Bakery. the Sandwich Fair is the last of the fair season, the first is the Chocolate Fest the weekend of Mothers Day (might be the weekend after they changed it a year or so back) the Chocolate Fest is in Burlington Wisconsin.

My grandson's Birthday is Sept 3rd. We always go to the Rodeo on Labor Day.
He will be 17 years old and we have benn going to the rodeo since he was 3 years old.
He still wants to go with his grandmother this year. He said it would not be the
same without him and me there.

I am sure that one day my Grandson will not want to spend time with me..I remind him once in a while that one day that will happen and he assures me that it would never happen.
