In Response to Re: Healthy eating:
The choice to lose weight is one of the hardest. A drug addict CAN live without drugs. An alcoholic CAN live without alcohol. We CANNOT live without food. So we are faced multiple times everyday with something that can "derail" our efforts. Important thing to remember is when you get in your car to go someplace you do not give it gas once and expect it to go all day. Same with our bodies. We need fuel as well. Small amounts will keep the "engine" going. Exercise helps to burn more calories and build muscle. Muscle burns more fat faster. So if you have built more muscle you will burn more calories even if you are just sitting at the computer. Everyone asked me what my "secret" was to my weight loss. Well here it is. 1. Portion control. 2. Exercise. 3. Drink lots of water. The "formula" I used to figure out how much take your body weight (what it is not what you want it to be!) divide it in half and drink that many ounces of fluids. So 150 pound person should consume 75 fluid ounces. I count all HEALTHY fluids in that 75 ounces. 4. Keep a food diary. Don't have to get real detailed with quantity but be truthful. 5. If you goof up, don't stress over it just make a better choice next time. If a certain diet works for you then that is the "diet" for you. Think of this as a way of life and not a diet. So as you begin to reach the weight you want learn to eat the way you will when you are "off your diet". Monitor your weight, it is a lot easier to take off 3 pounds than 10. Don't say "it's just 3 pounds" because 3 pounds quickly becomes 9 then the 10. That said don't become obsessive about it. Stay healthy, stay active. These are a few things I have "learned" on my 120 pound loss. The most challenging thing is maintaining it for the past 12 years. I should have started off with this important bit. You can not lose weight unless you want to do it for yourself. You can't do it for a party, a reunion, a wedding or anything like that you have to want to do it for yourself . Ok I am down off my soapbox now. Good luck and if you need any encouragement let me know.

Great hints! I think that my problem is mostly exercise and a husband who comes home at lunchtime with a McDonalds Angus burger.
