GRANA  here;
CALORIES ARE  NOT CREATED EQUALWhen you’re trying to eat right, sometimes it feels like you need an advanced math degree to keep up with all the numbers. But the numbers are only one piece of the story. It’s very important to consume only as many calories as is recommended in a day. But it’s also important to try to eat whole foods that are full of the nutrients and micronutrients that really keep your body running. Foods that are unprocessed and un-tampered with are more filling and nutritious than synthetic foods. Let's  share healthy tips for meal planning; snacking; etc.

just sneak by w/o notice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've switched to non-fat (skim) milk, 2% cheese, 100% whole wheat bread, wheat pasta, extra vegetables instead of potatoes, fresh fruit instead of cookies (sorry Nancy), one serving instead of 2 or more helpings, portion control, olive oil, baked instead of fried, lemonade instead of soda. Now that I'm not working away from home, I stopped buying convenience foods that are filled with preservatives, etc., and I cook from scratch. My husband doesn't cook, and he eats what I put in front of him. lol   We have both lost a few pounds and are more energetic. And when I bake goodies, I give most of them away so we're not tempted to chow down.

I think that the closer you stay to natural foods the healthier the diet,baked and broiled meats,raw and steamed veggies,fresh fruits and nuts,make your carbs count eat complex carbohydrates,cooked cereal instead of processed,I cook with real butter,olive oil and canola.A little butter goes a long way in cooking when paired with olive or canola oil use it as a flavor.I use olive oil and red wine vinegar in our salad dressings,we eat salad almost everyday, some days twice.Pita bread,whole wheat and white both with sesame seeds.I'm not a milk drinker,I drink soy and almond milk just the plain no sugar or flavoring and low fat yogurt.I drink at least a half gallon of water per day and have given up diet pop.I drink iced tea,real not from a bottle,I cup of coffee in the morning and I now enjoy a cup of dark chocolate hot cocoa in the evening. Dinner is the smallest meal of the day for me.My lab work shows I'm doing well I'm happy and so is my Dr.I bake almost everyday,I share with family and friends,most of my baking is with fruit and nuts.(MODERATION) is key in a healthy diet.

I only buy 100% whole wheat bread, skim and/or soy milk, unsweetened plain yogurt to which I add my own fruit and homemede granola, oatmeal or cold cereal that isn't sweetened (spoon size), use butter for baking, or canola oil; olive oil for sauteing.  Rarely buy a mix as baking from scratch isn't that time comsuming and you know what goes into it.  We do eat dessert most of the time, but it is homemade.
We don't have meat every day and I don't eat bologan, hot dogs or other lunch meat.  Bacon occasionally for BLTs. ham only a couple times a year (nitrates in it)

GRANA  here;
We had lunch out today & did not order dessert(6.99- $9.50pp; even  sharing, too high priced
 Once  home again we had  vanilla yogurt cups( 3/$1 sale today)&  fresh strawberriesbought w/ a $1off coupon,   at today's already  lower seasonal prices  for  prime  quality.
We saved enough $$$,  fat & calories by skipping the dessert menu yto beable to pay for all of today's luxuries
 extra yogurt cups: mixed beries; pinepple, pomegranate, vanila, toasted coconut
 fresh Strawberries
 8 large bananas; not quite ripe
 12DOVE  like ( generic)  ice cream bars
  We both enjoyed our at home dessert more than their super rich chocolate desserts ;I know I DID!!!!!!!

Oh how I wish I had the strength and energy to make myself eat healthy.    I managed to quit smoking but I sure don't want to quit eating the bad stuff.

I try to limit my bad stuff.  I can't really give up baked goods (homemade) for very long.  I do resist buying commercial baked stuff though, and only get a filled doughnut now and then.

I have a hard time getting hubby to eat better, so I just sneak things into the foods that he likes (Thr. I made him a nacho plate & I used a lot of onions, bell pepper & salsa). When I make a roast, I also make carrots, green beans & corn . I use a lot of onions &  bell peppers in most things that I make.

I don't have a healthy diet -- but like Judy said - I don't eat commercial baked stuff (except bread).   In my opinion commercial cookies and cakes are awful
