Learn how to trim the fat
Im looking for any healthy recipes or low fat I have gallstones (surgery soon) I can only eat oat meal for so long, I do sneak a choc chip cookie now and then when I make them.. HELP!! Thank You

   DID YOU ASK YOUR DOCTOR. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU SOME IDEA.I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK, I'AM SURE IT WILL GO WELL.OATMEAL HUH? I AGREE YOU CAN ONLY EAT SO MUCH OF THAT...REAL BLAND. MAYBE YOU CAN CHECK ON GOGGLE AS WELL.

I  Ronda; "ben there" donethat" gallston  diiet    & surgery.I also had an ulc . then er& it was hardtpeat nothing to irritate the ulcerwhile avoiding fats to keep my galstones quiet.Oatmeal, cream of wheat cereal, bo led rice poached fish applesauce;BORING &BAND; but after the surgery; life soon resumerd w/a moer  normal diet & no more pain.

Can you look up gallstones on Google and find what you can eat besides oatmeal?  Also asking your Doctor is a good idea.

Just as a caution..
Had the surgery years ago what they didn't say was that afterwards I would also have a problem with fats.  To put it delicately,.... they sort of run right through you. 
I would suggest that you ask your doctor or even at the hospital if there is a dietitian that you can talk to  just to get you heading in the right direction.
What I found was lower fat foods but others are ok in moderation but try not to combine several fatty items in one meal.
By the way try  this is going to sound real strange, but trust me a flavored balsamic vinegar on your oatmeal.  I have a cinnamon pear balsamic vinegar and a raspberry that are both wonderful.  There is a small shop near me that sells balsamic vinegars and olive oils. Tried a taste of a pineapple and a coconut the other day both very good but the bottles are big and it takes a while to go through one.  I suppose I should suggest they sell smaller bottles...

  Good luck with your surgery.  Your postop diet may be a matter of trial and error.  You'll soon learn what your body will tolerate.  Your doctor can give you a diet to use as a guide.  Mary Ann S.

My husband had the surgery.  He was supposed to cut back on fat.  But he "forgets".  And it causes him problems.  But not enough for him to eat like he should.

I had the surgery the old-fashioned way in '81 or '82 in the AF hospital in Omaha, NE.   It was the very first solitary surgery my very new, very young surgeon had ever done.   Both of us flew through it - lol

 Hi RHONDA  C;
 i'VE "BEEN THERE DONE  THAT": had gallstones & later  surgery,The gallstones  , (before surgery rgery) were painful & required a lowfat diet of  fat small meals
At the same time I had an ulcer requiring mall frequent  & bland meals
 I found that lowfat chicken noodle soup( canned) plain toast ;   a small piece of  poached  fish( no seasongs( yech) and a  microwaved baby redskin potao at different times kept me nearly pain free though bored w/my diet.These days,I would recccomend a fat free or low fat GREEK)  yogurt easily digested& high protein t & since an  ulcer  is caused by bacteria, it might help w/an ulcer.
 So eat small quantitites often: a small potato topped w/plain Greek yogurt( like sour cream; wil give lowfat protein& should digest easily& keep you satisfied.  A  single  portion  of cream of wheat cereal ( w/o butter)  isfat free;soft/ easily digested & if youlike it easly prepared in microwave or stovetop The gallsone surgery was esy for me;I healed rapidly& began to enjoy more regular meals prety soon, again!
Good luck & look foward to a  SPEEDY RECCOVERY

 Definitely  NO BURGERS; HOTDOGS; COLD CUTS OR CHEESE TILL after surgery & release from hospital..Those are all high fat & spiced ; mightcause discomfort . Avoid those cookies if  you can they are high fat & fat is a problem w/ gallstones. It won't be long rtil you are well again ; only a Bieftime time to be  on a restrictedd iet; so BE BRAVEKiss& look foward to feling& being much better!

I had an ERCP and the next week my gallbladder was taken out and no one ever said anything about not eating certain things. I was surprised when I read what you all wrote....
