It's harder and harder to find bargains in the grocery store.  It seems that there are fewer manufacturer coupons available too!

This is so true, there are less manufacturer coupons and deals.I think this is due to poor economic times and the cost of fuel.It takes fuel to get the groceries to their locations. This all rolls down to the consumers.I noticed the produce in our area grocery store look terrible because no one is buying it.I go else where for produce is fresh because it's selling, due to lower prices and moving the product. My son works at Subway and they had to raise their prices due to increase in costs due to delivery fees, again due to the high costs of fuel.We the consumers always take the hit!

I never shop without using coupons.  My daughter-in-law will get over $100 worth of groceries and only pay 4 or 5 dollars for her total bill.  She is just awesome.  I do fairly well but nothing like her.

I agree with you too Mary Ann!  Price of food keep going up and up along with fuel cost.  It costs you an arm and a leg for traveling to the store and then it costs you the other arm and leg at the store.

We have several discount stores that are owned my Mennonites.  Some of the product is close coded or has a slight dent and they also buy the overflow from the stores.  I try to buy most of my items there and what I can't find there, I go to the supermarket to buy.  I save quite a bit doing that!

I have been using coupons since college. Obtain a Sunday paper, go on line, look in magazines. Learn your stores policy for coupons. If the cashier refuses a coupon go to customer service. I see all ages using coupons.

Is it just me or are the prices in the grocery store getting higher and higher.  We shop for two peple and our bill is always around $150.  This is really getting tough.  We will soon have to give up eating.

We always get coupons in our Sunday paper, but, so many of the coupons are for products that I do not use.   Or the expiration date is two weeks later.

I wish I could find some bargains on the cookie making supplies.  I buy such huge amounts of the stuff and the price just keeps going up.

One store has a Fri.Sat. only sale this week, Limit 2 offers must buy 5 products on the list to get $5.00 off so this is what I bought

Nancy, do you have an Aldi's store down by you?  ( I checked, there is an Aldi's in O'Fallon) The prices at Aldi's are pretty good.  Unless flour and sugar are on sale some place the price at Aldi's is best.
If you know someone that shops at Costco or Sam's you can get some good prices there if you can buy in bulk.  And the way I bet you go through flour, sugar and eggs it might be the way to go.  I am sure that a member of your church has a card to one or both. (if they are both in your area)  Costco sends out coupons monthly and every once in a while there is a coupon for around $2.00 off the HUGE bag of Nestle's Semi Sweet chips. I think it is a 72 ounce bag.

I forgot to mention..I still think you should find out if the cost of a lot of the ingredients you use can be counted as a cheritable donation since you are doing much of your baking for the church. Even 1/2 the expense would be quite a savings for you.
