Thr. night I bought small pot roast $11.98 marked down to $  3.98  (with exp. date June 11), made it for Fri. dinner & have a tad more than 1/2 left (another dinner for the 2 of us with enough for hubby to pick at for lunch). Been yrs. since I bought pot roast, but I could not pass up the price (& savings). I also bought 9# of onions for $2.82,  & a digital timer(mine is so old, I want to have a spare) reg. $ 10.59 for $ 4.23).
Went to another store to look for something for grandkids & bought $50.88 worth of clothes(minus a $10.00 coupon) for $10.56. With all I saved, it was like getting the whole boneless sirloin roast for free(on sale for $ 2.49#). I checked, and gr. chuck was $ 3.39# so the sirloin is a great price. I have about 2 weeks before I will cut, wrap & freeze it. Glad I made a stack of burgers to freeze the last time gr. chuck was on sale.

It's harder than ever to find bargains in grocery stores.  I try to combine sale items with manufacturers coupons whenever possible.

The majority of my shopping is at Aldi's,then Marc's,they have things Aldi's doesn't,then Giant Eagle for sale items that can be combined with manufacturer coupons, but  sometimes the deal is better at Marc's with single coupons. You really have to know your prices to do good shopping.Saving 10 cents here and 25 cent there really adds up.I pay no more than 50% and may times save even more than that. The most important thing my family is still able to eat what we want. The only thing we aren't eating as before is beef, but red meat should be limited in a healthy diet.

Sat. the super store (not Walmart) had  Dad's Day sale. Miracle Whip reg. $ 3.88 on sale for $ 2.99, Philly 8oz. cream cheese reg. $ 2.47 on sale for $ 1.49 & Kraft 8oz. chunk cheese reg. $ 3.19 on sale for $ 1.99 . These items were on a mix & match sale, buy 10 get $ 5.00 off (with other items that I did not want), I paid $ 1.49 for the chunk cheese (exp. date Sept), $ .99 for the cream cheese (Oct. exp. date) & the Miracle Whip was $ 2.49 & I had $ .55 off coupon (5 of them from 2 neighbors) so I paid $ 1.94 each for 3 with exp. date of Dec. I hope to use the other 2 coupons before they expire on another sale with a 2013 exp. date.  I do not like to buy more than I think I can use before exp. date.
I bought myself a pair of Dr. Scholls shoes $34.99 with a clearance tag of $24.49 & I had a $ 4.00 coupon for a non food item priced $19.99 & up so $20.49 (I do not need the shoes yet, but could not pass up the price), the cashier said I could not use the $ 4.00 coupon, but could use the $ 3.00 coupon ( I just said OK, thinking I looked at the wrong coupon (there were 4 of them). When I got home & was checking the receipt, I saw that the shoes(clearly marked with the reg. & clearance price on each shoe & the box) did not ring up at $24.49, but at $17.49 (reg. price WAS $ 34.99) minus the $ 3.00 made them $ 14.49, that was another $ 6.00 plus tax saved & a nice surprise.

Oh WOW! if I had found chicken breasts for .49 a pound I would be walking like a chicken, talking like a chicken for the next 6 months or more.    It would save me even more if I started laying eggs!
