I like to go to our Natural Grocers store.  It is fairly new and is a very friendly store.  Most everything is organic and prices are very good.  I got almonds for $3.49 a pound for the whole ones and $4.48 for the slivered.  I like to use the slivered in my Christmas breads.  Oatmeal is just over a dollar a pound and I like the thick oats.  Their produce is beautiful and I got a huge bunch of  organic red leaf lettuce for $2.

Ann, when we lived in Maine, my Dad worked in Portsmouth.  The natural grocery we have here just arrived a few months ago.  Their stuff is great.  I couldn't believe the size of the bunch of lettuce I got for $2.  it would hardle cram into the bag.

have not seen much in the way of a bargain in our stores lately we do get some bargains near to a holiday but not a lot of them.

 a sack of oranges
 a sack of apples &  a BIG bunch( 7)  of bananas
 a 6pkof(lowcarb) English muffins( for egg measa; mini izzas& an open- faced eggs benedict type entree 
 1/2 gallon ofcranberry-raspberry juice cocktail
 3 containers ofGreek yogurt 2)pomegranite & 1 raspberry
3 containers of ight ( generic) yogurt; 2) raspberry &1) pomegranite for comparison taste esting)
2) turkeyy gravy mix pkts gravy mix for the turkey slices)
 hubby got himself a frozen meatloaf meal ( no veggies only mashed potatos,but he likes it  & will add a salad
 a pkg of our fave 50-50 salad mix(  baby field greens& baby spinach($.95 w/sale &  coupon
( usually $3.59 pkg).
choco chipc ookie mix to  make 5- 6 dozen cookies
 a large can o f New England clam chowduh( reg $2.50 can) foronly$.25 w/ sale price & coupon
 1/2 gallon ofmilk( to go w/ muffins& cookies)
 a 4pk of lemon paefait yogurt cups ( 100 calories each& fat free( FREE COUP)
blueberry flavored dried cranberries 6 oz pkg; for mufins
Bshoppping sales; markdowns& using couponswe saved   31% on our groceries this week & got a few nice luxuries, too
Add to the list:
 ABIG box of whole grain buckwheat pncake mix
 a box of whole wheat ( bran)muffin mix; will make 4 reg size & 24 mini banana lueberry  mini muffins.
OOPS; add 5 cans of tunaMoney mouth
Then I went accross the street to Target & got   a 25 oz bottle of( GENTLE ON HANDS( "ULTRA"  dish liquid (lavender scent) FREE w/ COUPON)

Dixie Crystal  / Imperial Sugar Is on special for  1.97 I had a coupon for 75 cents which was doubled to 1. 50 so I paid 47 cents for a four pound bag
 . Minutue Maid Pure orange juice  100 percent  squeeze 59 ounces was 2 for 5.00 so I used two  dollar off coupons and bought 2 for 3.00.I paid 1.50 a container.
   Utz potato chips were buy 2 bags get 3 free bags free
Fun in the grocery store

Bought 3# shelled walnuts that were on sale for $ 4.49# ( I now have a stockpile of 7# since I was buying 1 or 2 each sale), also bought 8oz, of pecans on sale for $ 4.49 and Kraft marshmallows were on sale for $ .99 (reg. price is $ 1.49 a bag) and I had 4 coupons $ .40 each & since the store will not double duplicates, I bought a chocolate, a gingerbread, a chocolate mint & a strawberry and paid $ .19 for each bag.  I would have bought more nuts, but I bought a 9 1/2 # whole sirloin tip roast for $ 2.99# & Dec. grocery money is almost gone Cry. I also bought several pounds of cheese that was on sale for $ 2.99#. 
 I have to decide how I want to cut the sirloin for the freezer, but I have time, the sell by date on it is Dec. 28.

P.E.I( Canadian )AP totatos are $,89each; wegot  5#  bag for $2.29 
a 45oz jar of super chunky PB for$3;other brands nearly$4 for a 26 oz jar& we prefer the store's own brand ;not really neededyet, but there's no doubt it willt il be pretty soon& we';ll have a protein source/supply for agoodpartofthewinter( in case we get snowed in)Frown( PB price still not up ( store'own brand) our prefference, anyway despite the recent price hike care we all had;

OMG, our Sprouts store is having a sale on almonds for $2.99 a lb. in the
bulk bins. It is just 3 days!! Today, Sat. and Sun!! I am going to stock up.
They have never had it this cheap before.  They must be trying to get
more people in their stores on the weekend! I wish they would have a
sale on walnuts and pecans.  Yippee!!! I am going to make some spiced
nuts!

The prices of nuts this year is just that, NUTS!  Last week I found sliced and whole almonds for $2.99 a pound.  Even though I still have lots from a previous sale, I bought some more to use in cookies.  What I don't use up will go in the freezer, either whole or ground, for future baking.

Let's hope there are some great sales after the holidays.

I have a healthy respect for farmers.  But I am sure the farmer would be overjoyed to get $8.49 a pound for his pecans.  Once the truckers, processors, packers, distributors, advertisers and supermarkets get their cut I just wonder how much the farmer really gets.
Just like the farmer of any grain, how much of that $3.00 box of cereal does he get?
That doesn't even take into account the farmer that raised that beef that will be sitting on my Christmas table at $6.00 a pound.

Nikki,  The price of walnuts and pecans are really high. Last year Sprouts had
the walnuts on sale for $2.99 a lb. I have been getting my walnuts at Costco
because they are cheaper. I'm going to freeze some of my almonds!

I refuse to buy pecans at the price they are selling them for.Walnuts are $5/ lb. and that's bad enough.I wonder what the Grocers would do if no one bought nuts ? Guarantee there would be a big sale on nuts! lol ! It's early and I'm up so I'll start my shopping list for this week.Famous brand cake mix is on sale and with the coupons I have they will cost me .25 cents a box,nice to have on hand for a quick cake.I buy yellow cake and use that for pineapple upside down cake and dump cake.

whistling tea kettles for only$7.99 (stainless steel or enamel)( same brand) as seen n at the kitchen  store for over$20.The  lady checking out ahead o f us bought 12 x long rolls of gift wrap for about what one roll would cost at the card store.

Holiday paper plates( asst sizes&napkins( asstsizes wereonly $1 pkg& were available in coordinating colors& patterns forBirthdays; Christmas  & New YearsEve
 specialty round coffees $5.99 12oz bg; whole grain creals& other staples were half the price of     t hes pecialty store & in a better selection.It was very ifficult for me to leavew/ only what  had been on  my list:
I bypassed  Cloth placemats & matching napkins for only $5 for sevice for 4 place settings.
pocketbooks; warm hats all at  uheard of prices; but w/no faily to shop for & myself having pretty
muh all   need I was able to go  past all these tempting bargains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Surprised
