Oh were you lucky.  You must not live on the West Coast.  $3.99 would pay for only a small piece of the lobster tail here in the SF Bay Area.  Oh, and they're frozen.

I try to shop only the sales.   My sisters and I were talking about our stashes of food.  We all buy when stuff is on sale whether we need it at that time or not.  That way we don't run out and have to go to the store to pick up something at full price. I'm glad I bought sugar when it was on sale for 99¢ quite a while back.  I didn't need it, but now the SALE is $1.99.

It has been several years since we had triple coupons, we only get double on $ .50 or less, but I stock up on sale items like Judy O.
 Today I used a raincheck for Crystal Light (I had to buy 8 to get them for $ 1.00 each (each makes 10 quarts & the exp. date is June 2013) the reg. price is $ 2.99 each so that was a savings of $ 15.92 BUT the store had a Sale that if I bought 10 Kraft items on their list, I would get a $ 5.00 off next trip coupon so I bought 2 Kraft cheese that was on sale for $ 1.89 each & I had 2 coupons  that were $ .50 off so I got $ 1.50 off the cheese ( store only doubles 1 coupon, the same item coupon is face value) so $ 2.28 for both ( package was printed with $ 2.99 from Kraft) so a saving of $ 3.70.  $ 29.99 worth for $ 10.28 minus the $ 5.00 coupon for next trip brought the total to $ 5.28. I really like the Crystal Light green tea so $  .10 a quart is a great price. I do limit myself to 16 oz. a day.

I am surprised that there aren't more bargains here in the Catskills since we are recovering from Irene. I guess the stores figure that the food pantries will help those in need.

I enjoy the hunt of finding a good bargain as I do making the purchase!  Sometimes the best bargains are not advertised.

Not a grocery store or super market, but try your local farmers markets where you get truly fresh produce right from the fields and orchards and other products you won't find in your normal grocery stores & super markets.  I paid $2.00 a pound for cherry tomatoes (red, orange, pear shaped, heirloom) and walked away with a big bag of tomatoes for only $2.25, a lot less than you'd pay in any store for one of their 12 ounce baskets.

 GRANAA here;Hubbyfound a  NO SUGAR    added STRAWBERRY RHUBARB PIE FOR 1/2 PRICE( ABOUT $2) I thad BIG chunks of rhubarb &  lots of   large whole strawberries.It was just sweet enough ( using *S*P*L*E*N* D*A* ) we both have been really enjoying it.
I changed my menus to fit it in:
#1-chicken friters
w/ acorn squash 1/2 filled w/ sweet peas &pearl onions;
#2  open-faced hot  turkey sandwiches w/ gravy &  green beans .
 Each meal was perfectly topped off w/ apiece oft this terrific pie. The crust looked slightly verdone but was as tender & flakey as always from our in-store bakery.
Deffinitely,"a GREAT BARGAIN"Money mouth
