My son is vegan, and I cannot find what can be used for egg substiture in recipes for cakes, etc., anything that uses eggs to rise. Does anyone have any ideas?

egg substitute?

Donna, I don't know. I was just checking back to see if anyone had an answer. My daughter in law is also a vegan, maybe she knows.

I found this info  this is only for baking : mix together 1 teas.baking powder,1 teas. oil and 1/4 cup of water for egg sustituted hope this will help.

I did a bit of checking.
Egg Substitute.
1 Tb ground flax seed
2-3 Tb water
Bring to a simmer and cook until thick.  This is equivalent to 1 egg.
Will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Can be made in quantity use the same ratio, 1 Cup ground flax seed and 3 Cups water. Approximately 1/4 Cup of this mixture will be equivalent to 1 egg.
