Hi Tina welcome to VBB.I think the scissors for removing fat from meat is a great idea.However using metal scissors or a knife to cut lettuce. isn't .unless you will be eating it right away .The reason being metal when used on lettuce causes it to turn brown,.it oxidizes.Tearing the lettuce or using a ceramic knife is a better option if you won't be using it right away.If you are using iceberg lettuce to get the core out hold the lettuce with both hands and slam the core side down on the counter top and this will enable you to easily remove the core.Hope to see more of you to share ideas and recipes.

I agree with everyone that I will give it a try and trim the fat with a scissors......and of course make sure you clean the scissors ...
