Learn how to trim the fat
The best way to trim the fat off any meat is scissors and not a knife at least i find it much easier to manage I have even found cutting up lettuce works better with scissors.

Hi Tina welcome to VBB.I think the scissors for removing fat from meat is a great idea. However using metal scissors or a knife to cut lettuce. isn't .unless you will be eating it right away .The reason being metal when used on lettuce causes it to turn brown,.it oxidizes.Tearing the lettuce or using a ceramic knife is a better option if you won't be using it right away.If you are using iceberg lettuce to get the core out hold the lettuce with both hands and slam the core side down on the counter top and this will enable you to easily remove the core.Hope to see more of you to share ideas and recipes.

I really like to use my kitchen scissors for these chores too.

I keep precious scissors in my handy kitchen drawer ... very valuable tool but I don't use them on lettuce.
I never thought about using them on meat..

I hate trimming the fat off meat.  I am all for anything that makes it easier.

Very good idea....and it does work wonders!  I have a pair of "kitchen scissors" that I purchased from a "Home Party", and they are the best thing since sliced bread.  I use them for just about everything.  They open those plastic packaging that just about everyone uses now days in a snap!  Saves on the nerves as well as the hands.

Thanks for the tip Tina.  I've always used a knife to trim fat off meat, just seems easier for me.

I too use my kitchen scissors to trim fat, cut up herbs, etc. But I only tear my lettuce. If I don't use the whole head, it won't get that brown, rusty look.

I, also, use my kitchen shears to remove fat from meat and many other chores.  I never use it on lettuce, though.

I never considered using scissors to cut off fat from meat.  I will try it and see.

I agree with everyone that I will give it a try and  trim the fat with a scissors......and of course make sure you clean the scissors ...
