BAD NEWSfor us;I heard on overnight talk radio that we( The USA) have put an embargo on the Ivory coast[ in AFRICA.They are a major producer of cocoa( main ingredient in chocolate.
cocoa is expected to see higher prices soon

I plan to stock up on baking cocoa. A scarcity of chocolate Easter eggs & bunnies is to be expected=higher prices

We cannot stock up on chocolate Easter bunnies & eggs; but we can plan on pink marshmallow bunnies & go back to jelly beans / hard boiled & dyed eggs.The radio host asked for callers to name items we buy regularly where the price has not gone up,lately;
no callers w/ answers to that question.

It was on theTV news today that a few chain stores, nationwide are freezing prices for as long as they can hold to the current(already inflated ) ones:PUBLIX & 2 other stores; none in my area

Baking cocoa (unopened) ; should have a good shelf life & hubby's weekly brownies need cocoa
Howdoyou plan to cope w/an increase in prices of things made w/cocoa?( anything chocolate

EVERYTHING is ging up folks, plan on it. The commodity prices have been on a tear for months but Ben Bernanke says he still needs inflation to make the economy better. ????? When you make over $100,000/yr maybe you can afford it but the rest of the country will fight back against the record profits now being recorded BEFORE the price jacking getting ready to occur. I have been stocking up for a year now and have plans to greatly reduce spending from now on.

I have a bit of a "stock pile" so I don't have to worry much yet. That said if I do find things on close out I do buy so I build up more of a stock pile. You have to do a little "thinking out side the box" close out valentine M&M's easily can be baked into cookies, who cares if they are all red and white? Bars of "Special Dark" bars can be chopped and melted to replace semi sweet chocolate in a brownie, cake, pie or cookie recipe.
Easter is around the corner..watch for close outs then.

I watch for close-outs after each type of holiday, i.e. Valentines etc. Half price or even 75% off are great deals. I noticed that Chocolate Chips are cheaper at a store called Aldi's. One of the companies makes it under the Aldi's name, like Nestle. I'm going to check walmart and stock up a little. They say, since the gas hike, everything is going up. It costs more to deliver food and anything else. I'll do the best I can. I love Chocolate.

I'm going to stock up on one food I can't live without.....CHOCOLATE! My husband told me he is going to have a hard time finding a casket made out of Chocaolate but that is my dream to go out in Chocolate!

Almost every time you go to the store the prices have gone up. This seems to be the new norm but the gas prices have shot up so quick we may all have to cut back somewhere in order to afford it. Meanwhile the oil companies are making record profits, something wrong with this scenario.

Guess we better all use our coupons from VBB before the prices are higher than the allowed amount on the coupons. I will be stocking up when I find bargains.

DiAnne, Aldi is owned by the same family that owns Trader Joe's. Most of the House brands at Trader Joe's I would imagine to be pretty much the same at Aldi's. The company is based in Germany. (By the way try their chocolate very good.) They have a great policy, try any of their products, if you do not like it they will refund your money and give you another product.
They also carry name brand items at times. They will carry name brand items until they can have it manufactured for them and sell it as a private labeled item.

Aldi is one of the reasons I do not rely on coupons for a lot of items. You do have to watch some of their items, if produce is on sale at another store it is often less expensive to purchase produce at a regular grocery store.
