I would so love to have an Aldi's down here in SC.  I used to shop there when we lived in Syracuse, NY.

In Response to ANOTHER PRICE HIKE ON THE WAY???????????????????:
BAD NEWSfor  us; I heard  on overnight talk radio that we( The USA) have put an embargo on the Ivory coast[ in AFRICA.They are a  major producer of cocoa( main  ingredient in chocolate . cocoa is expected to see higher prices soon .. I plan to stock up on baking cocoa. A scarcity of chocolate Easter eggs & bunnies is to be expected=higher prices ,not, We cannot stock up on chocolate Easter  bunnies & eggs; but we can plan on pink marshmallow bunnies & go back to jelly beans /  hard boiled & dyed eggs. The radio host asked for callers to name items we buy regularly where the price has not gone up,lately; no callers w/ answers to  that question. It was on theTV news today that a few chain stores, nationwide are freezing prices for as long as they can hold to the current(already inflated ) ones:PUBLIX & 2 other stores; none in my area : Baking cocoa (unopened) ; should have a good shelf life & hubby's  weekly brownies need cocoa Howdoyou plan to cope w/an increase in prices of things made w/cocoa?( anything chocolate
Posted by Ann N

Hi Ann,I went to that shelf life guide and found out cocoa powder sweetened or unsweetened (unopened) will keep indefinitely. Opened for 1 year.Sugar white or brown indefinitely opened or unopened.White flour opened or unopened for 1 year, 2 years refrigerated.Whole wheat flour opened or unopened 6-8 months, in the freezer 2 years. The list goes on.So many things last a long time if stored properly.Stock up when these items are on sale.

I stocked up on the hot cho. when it was on sale (exp. date is early 2013) & I bought some cho. syrup. If I need a cho. fix, I will have a cup of hot. cho. or put a little syrup on something (ice cream, cold milk, oatmeal, fresh fruit). I also bought several bags of morsels when they were reduced in Jan. Maybe cho. cake mix will not go up too much, that way one can make cake, cupcakes or cookies for a cho. fix, it won't be as good as the real good cho. but will be better than nothing.

It certainly is a vicious cycle.  With the price of gas skyrocketing and taxes staying high and going up, something has to give.  We can't afford to go out, and if we do, we can't afford to buy what's in the store.

I just don't know when its going to end.  I was fighting with my phone company today because we are allowed to make 100 calls a month locally with this package, I average around 12.  I have no long distance on our home phone so I use my cell.  So basically I have a land line and my internet and it cost my $95.00 a month.  No bells No whistles just basic.  They wanted me to take a bundle that would cost me close to $150.00 a month.  They just didn't get that I'm trying to save money and cut corners not add more corners to my budget.   Anyone know of a company that just lets you have a land line and high speed internet for a bargain?  I'm in Chicago so it would have to be one that will work in my area.  Thanks

Elsa, check out Magic Jack.  A friend of mine switched over. Costs him less than $20.00 per month.
You do need computer access but do a quick search and you will get the info.

Just a bit ago I was whining about my new service provider -- Cable TV, Internet and telephone.
Yesterday they said "Gotcha" and raised my rates.

Seems as though everthing is going up up and away.  Watch for sales and use coupons.  Get together with friends, buy in bulk and split the purchases.

Unfortunately as the gas keeps climbing in price it will reflect on everything else.I use coupons and buy almost everything when it's on sale.I try to cook as much homemade foods as I can.Prepared foods arn't always that good and they are much more expensive.I always buy more Sunday papers if the coupons are worth while, even if the papers cost a little,if you can save even a few dollars it's worth it.This coming week my groceries are going to cost about a hundred dollars, but I will save around ninety dollars.I will also get a coupon for five dollars off my next shopping bill and save an additional 15 cents a gallon on my gas.Every little bit adds up.

Regardless if it's chocolate, bread, rice, milk...all food is going sky high.  I haven't gotten a pay raise in a few years - this is supposed to be a cost of living raise but the government says no to me but yes to the stores & food makers.  It's getting so crazy.
