"hot off the presses"
 Due to bad winter weather; grain crops are poor= grain prices going up.
This means that every foodsource dependant on grain( for feed) is going to cost us  more:
beef; lamb; pork, chicken eggs & ofcourse;  grain itself'.cereal; pasta,
Even non-meat foods ( soy; cereals,  lentils & beans,
This doesn't leave much left at prices we have been used to paying( before recent increases, due to higher fuel/transport costs.
Dueto myhusbands yearsoftravellingto & workin in "third world" countries; I have been aware ( for a long time) how fortunate we  have been to have such a huge & varied food supply at prices most working people can afford.It ssems & I fear this is no longer going to be the case!YellMoney mouthCry
Americans have gotten used to beingableto buy whatever we wantin quantities, often wasteful.We make mealsw/ too large portions & often throwout theleftovers as"garbage". 
We are going to need to be more realistic & practical and  start to better plan our meals for less waste; eat smaller portions, so as to have less waist.It won't be easy(
  to change our old long-time habits but it can & must be  done if we ae to survive these endlessly escalating prices.    
 Let's help each other out by suggesting tips & menus)  for  more economical meals
( recipes too).Smile
 Soups; more veggies( home grown, if possible)
we are all in this together & by encouraging each other  & sharing  ideas (like our grandparents used commonly) we'll make it through to a better future w/less  waste & more appreciation of all the blessings in our lives  Innocent

Ann, Thanks for the great post! All our food prices keep going up! Our gas
prices are still at $3.89.

Food prices at the wholesale level increased last month by the most in 36 years. And food prices overall are expected to rise 3 to 4 percent this year from 2010, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service.

Iwent to the store the other night to get milk and cofee and it was 15.00dollars for thoes items
