Saving your Halloween candy

i saw on t.v. they said to save your halloween candy in the freezer.i will do this with the snickers and some other good bars. i use them cut up in brownies,special bars.I also peel and freeze hershey kisses. i use the in so many recipes.you could even cut up the bars first, label zip- lock freezer bags. it is easier to cut first. sure better than eating them all. i crush lollipops to save to melt for stain glass for our gingerbread houses.

You can also substitute chopped up candy bars and gummy candy for chocolate chips in the traditional Nestle recipe.

What good ideas!! I'd like to hear more. We only had a handfull of Trick or Treaters last night and I have lots of candy left. I bought one of those huge bags at Costo.

Must not be a lot of people letting their kids go trick-or-treating anymore. We had maybe a dozen yesterday. It used to be I would run out of candy before the night was over. Oh well, maybe I will just donate the left over candy to the local food pantry.

I WAS JUST READING IN THE PAPER ABOUT ANOTHER USE FOR EXTRA CANY. THIS WOMAN HAS HER KIDS MAKE ART PROJECTS WITH THE CANDY. USING THEIR IMAGINATION , SHE EVEN HAS A BOOK OUT. IT IS GOOD FOR KIDS TO USE THEIR MINDS. ONE RULE IS THEY CAN NOT EAT THE CANDY, CAN NOT TAKE ANY FROM ANYONE ELSE...CUTE IDEA. I THINK IT WOULD BE HARD NOT TO EAT ANY,THE SMELL OF CHOCOLATE...MAYBE IT TEACHES YOU WILL POWER AS WELL...HUH

I KNOW, THAT WOULD BE TORTURE FOR ME.JUST THE SMELLS ALONE.MAYBE SHE IS TEACHING WILL POWER.I WOULD FAIL THAT CLASS....THE PHOTOS WERE NICE OF THE THINGS THEY MADE.SHE NEVER MENTIONED IF THEY COULD EAT THE ART WHEN IT WAS DONE..I'AM SURE THEY NEVER MADE IT HOME..

We actually didn't have any trick or treaters this year. Seems to me Halloween on a Sunday always makes it slow, so I didn't buy as much to give out. I think it's because so many groups can have parties on Friday and Saturday, so going out again it tiring on the parents. My kids are gettting older (even though we all dress up) and we went to Fright Night at a local amusement park on Saturday. They still went out a little on Halloween, but didn't hit as many areas as they usually do.

Just reminds me ....
I have a children's "art" class every Sunday night. Maybe I could use those photos.
Right now I gotta' get going on this weeks project.
It's so difficult to come up with a project every week.

That's what I've been working on .... I'm making "frames" out of cardboard cut from boxes. I'll cover those with brown construction paper. This will frame a coloring book style of lettering on poster board saying, "Thank you Jesus" ... The lettering drawn so it can be colored with crayons. And I got "silk" autum leaves to paste along the left edge of the frame.
We'll use a nice heavy string to make a hanger.
Back to work.

you can also use candy wrappersas items to use on frames.i saw it on martha's stewart.it was cool.sounds like a nice project you are working on.have fun.

I have alot of candy to save..bought 26 bags of candy and got no kids at my door this year..also found peanut m&m's on sale for a doolar a bag so i had to buy 4 bags..thinking i might use them in brownies...I have 3 grandsons who love to eat everything i bake and i love to bake ..its my method of relaxing
