I also make this recipe with dark chocolate chips, and I use chunky peanut butter!

I haven't made them before, but they sound good (especially with the chocolate chips).

When we were hearing that the cost of peanut butter was going to sky-rocket because of the peanut crop disaster I bought a dozen BIG jars of smooth.  (all set to expire after July 2013).  So I haven't tried these with chunky .... I gotta do that.
And I haven't tried any dark chips in this recipe.   The milk chocolate it calls for are so good that I just never thought of Embarassed changing to dark.

Wow - TWO new things for me to try.  I think I'll do that today .... I'll use my smooth peanut butter but add a lot of chopped peanuts.

Has anyone tried this recipe with crushed Butterfinger candy bars?  That's very good.

I saw a show I think it was "How It's Made" or possibly one of the food shows but they were at a plant that makes peanut butter.  To make Chunky Style peanut butter they add the peanut chunks to the creamy peanut butter.  So if they can do it you can make your own chunky style peanut butter.  Finely chop peanuts could probably do it in a processor or blender if you don't over blend it.  Add some of the chopped peanuts to the creamy until you get the chunk level you want. I think they even sell chopped peanuts to use for an ice cream topping. So no need to buy 2 types of peanut butter. Unless you really like the chunky style.  I personally am a creamy peanut butter person.

Peanut Butter Cookies with semi sweet or dark chocolate chips are the best.  I like them much better than plain peanut butter cookies.

Thanks Nikki -- I'm afraid of putting nuts in my food processor.  I always do it too much and end up with an almost liquid gunk.   So I just chop away with a great big knife ....... I can do that right....... lol...... slow but right!

Nancy in a case like this even if you process a bit much it will still add a bit of chunk to the peanut butter you are going to use anyway.

Speaking of peanuts - lol lol lol -  Today I decided 'no baking in this heat'  and I already have two batches of peanut brittle looking for a home so I surfed around here and found  Swirlicious Chocolate-Peanut Toffee.  I had everything I needed for that so I made a batch .  It's easy and not too expensive.   It's very good looking and tastes great.  But .... watch out for your teeth!!!
Oh - I didn 't have any of the peanut butter/chocolate swirled chips so I used 1/2 milk chocolate chips and 1/2 peanut butter chips.

Quick question, which will really let you know how new I am to VBB.  Where did you post the recipe for the peanut butter cookies?  I do not see it in this chain.

Thanks!

Also, I make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies with mini chocolate chips and drizzle a ganache over the top.  If you love the chocolate/peanut butter combination, the ganache takes it over the top.

Hi Betsy -- this is a VERY good recipe and it's right on this site.
Just type or copy/paste " Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies " in the SEARCH spot on the top right of this page.  It's one of my favorite recipes and it's not at all typical for a peanut butter cookie.

I also like to make peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips in them.  Anything with chocolate chips is better.  I stocked up on peanut butter before the big rise.  It was on sale for 99¢ in one of my stores.  Now it is on sale for $2.50!!!

Thanks Nancy.  I found it and it looks delicious.

How do you post a recipe in the recipe section?  I just posted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles in the Chocolates Anonymous section, but am guessing that I did not post it to the appropriate page.

Would you please let me know?

Betsy -- Nellie told you how to correctly post a recipe in the "permanent" places ...... On here, like the Chocolates Anonymous site, it will soon get old and people won't see it anymore.   I'm glad, so glad, Nellie gave instructions.  I am hopeless with computer stuff and am usually lost.

I didn't realize one could see what's in other folks recipe boxes.  I now can get more recipes.  Thanks for the tip.  Mine is not private either.  I really don't know a lot about how these things work, but any time i can get more recipes without having to write them down is a good thing.
