I want to recommend Nestles new Dark Chocolate morsels.   They are REALLY good.  The cookies I made are a true delight. I wish they came in a 12 instead of a 10 oz bag but that's

Ok Nancy you got me.  By the way are you getting a kickback from Nestle's for each bag sold?
I am going to head out and look for them.  Have to make a stop at Costco to pick up a prescription and Walmart is right next door.....
By the way when you had your taxes done did you check to see if the ingredients you purchase for your cookies for church are tax deductible?  I mean you not only bring in cookies but you do projects with the kids using baking supplies.   Just a thought....penny saved is a penny earned.

Thanks Nancy, I will have to look for these too.  Dark chocolate is very good for you and given the choice between different chocolate I usually pick the dark lol.  I wonder if they can be used to make fudge?  Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

H. M.  I'm convinced the new dark chocolate can easily be used in fudge.   What a great idea.

YOU try it first.  I'm afraid to.  I know I'll gobble the whole batch in one sitting.

I have made fudge using the Special Dark Bars and it is amazingly good.  I added "stuff" to it. Nuts and dried cranberries was almost like eating a giant Chunky Bar. So I would guess the fudge made with the Dark chips would be just as good.
Almost anything made with dark chocolate is good!

Nikki -- Walmart is the only place in this area that has the dark yet.
Susan - you're going to love the chips ..... oh, they are good.

I really feel weird that I'm the only one of us Nestles VBBs who has found and used them.
And I'm the one in the rural area !!

Thanks Nikki -- I've printed that great sounding recipe.

And I made fudge with the new dark chocolate chips.  Oh my.  I've been making microwave fudge with chips for 30 years ..... always using 2 bags of semi-sweet and one bag of milk chocolate.   Today I used the same old recipe but only dark chocolate.  It's absolutely great.
I'm trying hard to keep my hands out of it ..... I'm taking it to a dear family tonight at church.
Really I am
Honest I am
I'm giving away this entire plate of fudge
I will not eat any more
These great people have super kids - they deserve fudge
I will not eat any more
I will not

Are you trying to convince us or yourself?
I picked up some more craisins the other day and I think I will make some of the dark fudge and add some craisins and pecans to it.  I am still looking for the Dark chips.  There is a Super Walmart pretty near me I will try there on Friday.

Nancy, I went to our Super Walmart today and they didn't have the dark choc. chips yet. So the San Diego
area does not have them either. I'm going to have to go to the high priced grocery stores and check if they
have them. I want dark choc. chips!!!!!!!!!! Nancy, do you have something going with Nestles that you have
the dark chips?

Carol -- last night I was at my little local WalMart buying ---- you guessed it ---- more dark chocolate chips.  An employee was stocking in that asile so I asked her why such a small, rural store had the chips and they weren't in major area WalMarts yet.  She said that she didn't have a clue - they never knew what was going where.  (and she was mystified why anyone was excited about a chocolate chip - lol)

Frown Tonight I took that fudge that I found so very good to the special people at church.  The husband who gets such a kick out of my "stuff" grabbed a piece of fudge --- gobbled it but didn't look thrilled or anything.  Oh, he smiled and said "thank you" but .....
I asked him what his opinion was and he said that this was very good but he preferred the old fashioned sort of fudge.
My recipe sure isn't old fashioned.
Does anyone still make old fashioned fudge?

I make old fashioned divinity but all other candy is easy.

Nancy, He may not know what dark choc. is!!! What I know about old fashioned fudge is that they used cocoa
and cooked it on low for several hours. My friend gave me her grandma's recipe and I made it a long time ago.
It was a hard fudge and I really liked it. I make divinity for my Christmas care packages. I used to use my Mom's
recipe but now I use Paula Deen's because it makes a bigger batch. Did you save any fudge for later?

Carol - I saved a tiny ( Honest!!) little bag of the chunks that fell away as I was cutting that stuff.  I scraped the bowl too - lol.

I have snatches of memories of winter/Christmas candy .... like you said, lots of boiling and "washing" the insides of the pan.  All while the candy was boiling you kept the sides of the pan clean with a fork wrapped in wet fabric.  And the candy was constantly tested by dropping a bit into a glass cup of cold water.

The fudge was hard and grainy ..... the divinity was divine Wink !!

What's Paula Dean's recipe?

I looked at Target and Safeway today for the dark chocolate, no luck.  I wonder if they are test marketing the chips in your area?
