Just thought I would make this fudge for Mother's Day. It is very easy but I added a half cup of chopped walnuts to it. I have to have nuts in my fudge!! Wow!!! This fudge is a winner!!! It didn't tak

Nestle's Dark Chocolate Cherry Fudge

Just thought I would make this fudge for Mother's Day. It is very easy but I added a half cup of
chopped walnuts to it. I have to have nuts in my fudge!! Wow!!! This fudge is a winner!!! It didn't
take 2 hrs. to firm, only 1 hour. Sorry Nancy, I didn't have any pecans. Nestle's new dark choc.
chips have a very smooth taste, not bitter at all.  I did use the cherries!!

This is an awesome fudge!!!  Thank you Nestle's.

Nancy,  I WOULD SAY NEVER!!!!!  It tasted really great with walnuts, but if I would have had pecans
it would have been awesome!!!! Nestle's dark choc. is a really smooth high quality tasting choc.
Looks like we are really going to enjoy baking with this product!!!

Carol -- I'm sure enjoying the Nestles Dark .....maybe too much.  
I have piles and piles of the semi-sweet in my freezer and I have to keep using it 'til it's gone.  Isn't it funny that I LOVED that stuff and now look at it as something I "have' to use up and be rid of it?!  That's just plain dumb.
Last night I made a batch of regular chocolate chip cookies and used the semi-sweet......... I'll take these to the kids at church Sunday morning.
When all the semi-sweet are gone I'll buy nothing except the dark.

Nancy, mix the semi sweet with the dark chocolate.  You will still get the more intense flavor of the dark but use up some of the semi sweet in the process.  You can also do this in recipes that have other chocolate added like cocoa or unsweetened chocolate.

Nikki -- mixing sounds like such a good idea - thank you.
But I have no idea of how to do a sub thing like using chips for cocoa or unsweetened chocolate.
Any hints or suggestions?

Nancy,  I have 5  72 oz. bags of semisweet plus smaller bags. I have to do a lot of Christmas baking
with them so they will get used up and choc. chip cookies for the grandkids. I'm saving the dark choc.
for me and hubby. I wish I would have got more than 4 bags when they were on sale.

Do get some Lisa -- you'll soon find out why all of us love it so much.

Carol -- I've never even SEEN a 72 oz bag.  WalMart carries a 24 oz (I think it's 24 oz) bag but I never buy it because it's usually a cent or two higher per lb than the smaller bag. ???

Nancy, the 72 oz bags are available at Costco.  I always buy the semi-sweet that way.  They may be available at other warehouse stores....Maybe Sam's Club?  Not sure.

Nancy,  I always get the 72 oz bags at Costco.  The last time I got them they had coupons, $2.00 off
each bag. I got 4 bags!!! I also get my dried cherries in a 20 oz bag. They are cheaper than other
grocery stores. Do you have a Sams Club or a Costco near you?

Verlee,  Have you tried Target? Target is the only place that I have found them in the
San Diego area.  The 99 cent stores down here have the Nestle's semisweet mini
toppers for 99 cents!!

Which recipe did you use for the fudge?  Also, did you use maraschino cherries and how much!

Boy, this sound yummy, never gave it a thought to use cherries!  Woo-Hoo!

Costo and Sams are both in St. Louis but I don't go there often enough to make paying for a membership worth while.  Undecided
