I have several calendars in the house and not one mentions this fact.  I Love everything chocolate and I feel that I have missed out on at least 58 National Cheesecake's  I truly feel deprived!

I made one Chocolate Cheesecake on this site and it was very good, did not like the no bake one that I found.  I am in search for the ultimate chocolate cheesecake does anyone have THE recipe?
Care to share or is it a secret?

Oh one more thing...
The crust, an important part of the cheesecake.
Do you preffer crumb crust or a cake base for the bottom.

I like crumb, however I might like having a brownie base!

Must have been meant for me but I saw today the Double Chocolate cheesecake...I just might have to make that. A day or so late but better late than never.

Celeste has a good idea with the brownie base.
There is a cheese cake company here Eli's Cheesecake that makes their cheese cakes with a cookie base.  Almost like a shortbread.  They are either a vanilla or a chocolate although some of the "fancy" cakes might have other flavors all I have ever seen is the chocolate or vanilla.
I think Junior's in New York is a cake base not graham cracker.  From the book I read they say it is a "cake" so the base should be a cake.
In theory cheese cake is more of a pie than a cake so a crumb crust makes perfect sense.

I don't think I would turn down any of them!!

nikki,
there's a recipe somewhere on this site        with a gingersnap crust        and that sounds good to me
but i never make cheesecakes anymore   because it's always too much
i have a recipe for a pecan cheesecake pie if you haven't tried that

I have small cheese cake spring pans, I need to start making a bunch and freezing them so when I have unexpected guest or such I will have on hand some of mine favorite flavor cheese cakes.
