I was so eager to try these that I stirred up the dough this morning and tossed it into the 'fridge while I took the cats to the vet.
When I got home and comforted the spoiled brats I started baking the cookies.
I left this 5 star review:
These are very good cookies but they cost so very much to bake.  I will bake these again only when I need a very "fancy" cookie for some reason.
The recipe made 68 small cookies for me.
If walnuts or even pecans were used they would be good and less costly to make.

They are good cookies but really too expensive to make -- 2 cups of macadamia!!  Plus peanut butter, cocoa and chocolate chips.
I wish I could mail everyone a couple cookies so you could make your own decision.

And make a note on your recipe card to bake these things for the lowest minutes listed and check them carefully.  They look great but are burned on the bottom if left in a minute longer.

Nancy, I have substituted brazil nuts for macadamia (they "chew" the same).  I have bought the brazils when they have them in the shell around Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I shell them and store them in the freezer.

lol lol lol ........... Oh Judy brazil nuts in-the-shell have turned into a funny NoNo in this house.  Badcat LOVES them.  He carefully digs them from my precious bowl of nuts and chases them all over the place.
Wow- they are noisy little things on a hard wood floor.

I would think that filberts would have the same buttery flavor the Macadamia nut has.
Your note Nancy about baking for the shortest time would be correct.  I find that Chocolate cookies, cakes or pies tend to pick up a bit of color quickly and get that "burnt" taste faster than a lighter cookie, cake or pie.

And Nikki - a chocolate cookie never looks burnt (burned?) .  It can look just fine until you have it out of the oven and cooled off.  Then you discover it's as hard as a brick and about as tasty.
