I MAKE THIS VERY RICH DESSERT AROUND THE HOLIDAYS. IT IS CALLED " DEATH BY CHOCOLATE".YOU NEED TO MAKE A LARGE PAN OF BROWNIES. AFTER THEY BAKE , LET COOL, POKE TONS OF HOLES IN IT . YOU WILL SPOON COLD BLACK COFFEEOR COFFEE ALCOHOL ( DO USE THE BOOZE WITH KIDS).YOU WILL NEE AT LEAST A QUART OF CHOOLATE MOUSSE OR CHOCOLATE PUDDING, SEVERAL CONTAINERS OF COOL-WHIP OR HOME MADE .6-8 CRUSHED UP SCORES BAR.HAVE A FANCY BOWL. YOU NEED TO LAYER BROWNIE, SCORES BAR, COOL-WHIP, KEEP DOING IT. YOU END WITH COOL-WHIP.I SPRINKLE ON CRUSH NUTS AND TOP WITH A CHERRY
MANY YEARS AGO MY KIDS WERE HELPING ME DO THE DESSERT.THEY ASKED ME THE NAME. I TOLD THEM " DEATH BY CHOCOLATE". WE SERVED AT A PARTY, EVERYONE WAS EATING IT,EXCEPT MY KIDS. MY YOUNGEST LOOKED AT ME AND SAID "I HOPE THEY LIKED IT, BECAUSE THEY WILL BE DEAD SOON". I LAUGHED AND EXPLAINED IT WAS JUST A NAME, NO ONE WILL DIE. NOW MANY YEARS LATER THEY CAN NOT GET ENOUGH." DEATH BY CHOCLATE" REALLY WOULD IT BE SO BAD.
YOU REALLY NEED TO SOAK THE BROWNIES...IT IS SO GOOD.

I FORGOT TO SAY SPOON IN THE PUDDING AS WELL. START WITH BROWNIES.WILL BE MUSHY, CANDY, PUDDING COOL-WHIP,KEEP GOING , ENDING WITH COLL- WHIP.

Yum,it sounds really good.I guess it is possible to die from it , if you eat it all.You could use any candy you want, vary it.Thanks for the idea..

I have a cookbook that is titled "Death by Chocolate" by Marcel Desaulniers. The featured recipe in the book is a "Death by Chocolate" dessert. It is a multilayered concotion of Cocoa Meringue, Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Brownie layer, Chocolate Ganache, Mocha Mousse and topped with a Mocha Rum Sauce. I have never made it as it seemed like too much work, but the picture looks devine. Maybe some day I will visit his Trellis Restaurant and have some.

I heard my Mom & a freind talking about cakes. Then they switched to meatloaf. I didn't know they had switched topics & when they said to add onion soup mix, I vowed I would NEVER eat that cake!

you do need the coffee. it does soften the brownies and gives them a great flavor.i tried it once without it once, you do notice the difference.maybe there is a chocolate flavor you could use instead...it is out of this world.
