They are so rich the way they are I doubt if you will have to garnish them, but I guess it couldn't hurt.

I've finished baking them .... REALLY good cookies.  The chocolate is deeper, darker than I expected but I love dark chocolate.
This will be one of my Red Star recipes taped to the inside of my kitchen cabinet doors.

The sad thing is that while I was removing one sheet from the oven I managed to somehow catch it on the inside of the top of the oven....
total disaster.  The parchment went off the tray and every cookie hit the floor.  What a mess.  What a LOSS.

I took a little bag of these to the group breakfast this morning .... lol lol lol
Lots of "my" cookies are popular, much loved.  These made a GIANT hit.
It was almost funny to see people eat these and grab for more.
Not one person has ever tasted a cookie like that before ..... and in the past I've taken lots of different chocolate cookies.
What a treat.
I thought I was finished making cookies for a bit but now I know I have to make lots more of these.

Oh - I asked about adding pecans (these people gobble nuts) and the answer was "No nuts!!".
Everyone wants this deep chocolate taste to stay "pure".

Thanks again Nikki!!

These look sinfully delicious!  I'll have to put this away for later, as I still have good stuff from Christmas left, and don't need to make more right before Valentines Day.

Last night I made yet another batch of dough and baked it this morning -- absolutely perfect cookies -- a really great batch of cookies.
They aren't "easy" to make and the contents are pretty expensive but they are worth every cent.

I have some from last Thursday when I made them.  I put them in the freezer.  I think I am going to make ice cream sandwiches with them.

Ice cream sandwiches!!  That does it Nikki - I'm putting you in "Ignore"....... well, I'm thinking about it.  lol

How did you store the dough over night?   It's so sticky.  It's so sticky it difficult to get out of the bowl.

Nancy, you probably won't see this since you are going to put me on ignore....but when I made the cookies I put them in an unheated room we have.  Since it was a very cold day the room was colder than the refrigerator but not as cold as the freezer.  I put them there for 15 minutes, while the oven was pre heating.  I dished out one batch and put the cookies back in the cold room.  did this and it worked out very well.  I have a little "disher" spoon that scoops out about a 1 inch ball of dough.  Works great for cookies.  they all come out the same size and bake evenly.

By the way next time you make the cookies, when you have done about half the dough add some chopped pecans.  I think it would taste great.  With half a batch "pure" and half a batch "nutty" you can do a true taste test and see which ones you like better, or if they are both good.

You all know me for creative thoughts -- Innocent -- I've been thinking about trying some pecans in the next batch of these I make.

And, Mary L, I don't have a clue about what would happen if you used sweetened German Chocolate for the unsweetened chocolate the recipe calls for.  I know you could use the regular unsweetened chocolate and sub chopped German Chocolate for the chocolate chips.  But I'm so far from being informed or expert.  I just follow recipes.

The forecast for Monday (Presidents Day) is for up to a foot of snow, so I think that's all the excuse I need to mix these up.  Thanks all for the hints.  That is one of the best things about this web site!
