When I was looking in my old Betty Crocker cookbook, I came across this recipe I had saved from a Land 'O Lakes butter carton.  It is callee Butter Bingo Squares

Chocolate Filling:
2 T butter
6 oz. chocolate chips
5 1/2 oz evaporated milk
1/4 t. salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Oatmeal Base:
1/2 cut butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
1 14 c flour
12 t. soda
1/2 t. salt
2 cups quick cooking rolled oats

For filling: combine butter, chips, milk, sugar and salt. Bring to rolling boil stirring. constantly.  Remove from heat  and stir in pecans.  Cool.
For oatmeal base: cream butter, add sugar egg, vanilla and beat until light and fluffy.  Stir in flour, soda, salt and 1 3/4 cup oats until well blended.  Press 2/3 crumb mixture into bottom of buttered 9 x 9 pan.  Spread with chocolaate filling.  Mix 1/4 cup oats with oatmeal mixture.  Crumble over filling Bake at 350 about 25 to 30 minutes .  Cool at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares.

Sounds yummy.  I'll save the recipe
But, I don't need that kind of temptation right now.  I indulged in assorted cookies over the holidays and should calm my sweet tooth for a while.

Judy, Judy, Judy...
Thank you! What can be better than chocolate.  I love bar cookies like this and plan to make this one as soon as I can.
Since the evaporated milk called for is a tiny can I will double the recipe and use a full regular can and use a 13X9 pan.
Thank you again for the recipe.

That's what I plan to do.  I always waste leftover evaporated milk as it gets lost in the fridge and forgotten

I stored this in the fridge and the chocolate hardened nicely.  Actually it took strength to cut it, but it was very good.
