Hi Sharon -- I've never heard of Butterfinger Cake ..... but I now need to. I'll be looking.
Bake the cake according to package directions in a 13 x 9 inch pan. When it's done, and while it's still hot, punch holes in the cake and pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top making sure some of it sinks in the holes.
Do the same with the caramel ice cream topping. Sprinkle on some of the broken candy pieces. When it's cool, spread the Cool Whip topping on the top, and then sprinkle the rest of the broken bars. Then drizzle more caramel all over and then drizzle chocolate syrup all over in zig zags.
Hint! Put all your candy bars in the freezer. When you're ready to use them, take them from the freezer.
Leave the wrappers on and take a mallet or a hammer and smash them inside the wrappers. Keep cool
until you need them.
Enjoy!!!

I loved this cake however it was really sweet
For those of you who think this version is too sweet, I also make this with a yellow cake mix. It is wonderful either way!
Delicious!!!! Took to work to a carry-in. The whole office loved it. Had to give them the recipe. Very easy to make.
Let me tell ya i made this for the holidays and there was no left lol! It was a big hit now i make it all the time for family functions its so very good thanks for sharing!
The cake was marvelous! I would let others know to use a butterknife to spread the sw. cond. milk and caramel back and forth across the cake until it really soaks in. You can visually tell when a large amount has soaked in. I also hammered the frozen candy bar into very small pieces versus chunks.
OMG rich and wonderful
Yummy
This was awesome. Easy to make and kids loved it as well!
A hit with everyone. I have made this 3 times for different crowds. They love it! Easy to make.
This was great, everyone in my class loved it. A+

My father is undergoing rad tx and have made several cakes to take to staff and the Doc's! This one out of 4 previous ones garnered the most positive response-Will make again- maybe try Devils Food next time

Made this cake for Christmas..the family loved it! I would definately make it again. Thanks to the comments I used the devils food cake and omitted the hot fudge. This one is definately a keeper!

This cake is wonderful.
I tried it with a dark chocolate cake mix and it was yummy! Very easy recipe that tastes sinfully rich. Everyone at the office loved it and 3 asked for the recipe. I will definitely make this for my family.
Best Cake Ever!
Horrible horrible sweet cake.
The dumb milk is dumb dumb dumb.
What a waste
This cake is stupid. Every time I eat it, I feel dumb. Also, butterfing bars don't exist and butterfingER bars don't have carmel in them.
AT ALL.
Dumb!
This is a GREAT recipe...but I make it a little different.
I use Duncan Heinz DEVIL'S FOOD cake mix. It holds up better. I also only use ONE of the toppings, either caramel or hot fudge, and it is a very sweet cake. Great for a pot luck; since it's so sweet it goes further.
My version:
Make the Devil's Food cake as directed on box. While still warm take knife/fork and poke zillions of holes but not in a straight line! While warm, pour sweetened condensed milk over cake. Give it 10-15 mins. and pour warmed hot fudge in a criss-cross pattern over the cake. Cover cake until ready to serve. When ready to serve, spread 8oz. cool whip over cake, and sprinkle with 4 heath bars that have been smashed up with a hammer. Double bag the candy bars before smashing because the inner zip lock bag busts open.
Try this version and you will make it over and over. I've never had a guest tell me it was too sweet and everyone wants the recipe.
The flavor was WONDERFUL - everything was great EXCEPT, I don't think that a German Chocolate cake mix is the right cake to use. It wasn't substantial enough of a cake to "hold up" under the Eagle Brand milk and the caramel sauce. As it was cut it broke down more and more and just got really ugly really fast. The devil's food cake mix isn't as "soft" and would hold up better.
MAde this for Christmas! It was a hit!
easy.. nothing
I crumbled the butterfingers and mixed some into the cool whip and then sprinkled some on top. It was a big hit for goodie night.
It was awesome!
This was WAY too sweet - I wouldn't make it again. It was a great idea and I was excited to make this but just wasn't very good.
This cake was great. Many Kuddos!
This was the best cake I ever baked. Easy and delightful and fool proof
Use butterfingers and not other bar, other bars soften
Wonderful
I made this for gathering and they raved about it.
A friend at work made this cake and it was great. I had to come straight home and get the recipe so I could make it my self.
The best cake I have ever eaten. Fixed it on Christmas and my family loved it. Very easy to make.
This cake will absolutely make your mouth water. So, tie that napkin around your neck and enjoy. Thanks again, webtexan for a wonderful recipe.

Thank you!! For years I've made a 9x13 dark chocolate cake, poked with lots of holes, dump on the caramel syrup and then the sweetened condensed milk ..... frost with cool whip or real whip cream. Sprinkle with pecans and shaved chocolate.Another is WHITE cake, dump on the sweetened condensed milk and then a can of creme de coco (cream of coconut). Frost with cool whip and lots of coconut.
