Plain yogurt works just the same. Substitute it cup for cup. Hope that helps.

I put 1 tablespoon of vinegar per cup of regular milk. Also if you have milk that is soured you can use that.]

Yogurt or sour cream works well.  I have used either measure for measure yogurt or sour cream for buttermilk or I will add half milk and top of the measure cup with yogurt or sour cream.  Allow it to sit for a while to thicken up a bit.  Do the same if you use vinegar or lemon juice in milk.  1 or 2 Tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk.  Let it stand while you are getting the rest of your ingredients ready.

It's amazing what you can learn here.  Thanks all!  I will have to file this away since I always forget to buy buttermilk lol.

1 Tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to one cup of milk. Let stand 10 minutes and you are good to go!

yep, I forget to buy it ,or buy some for a recipe and then never use the rest so it goes bad. I prefer to use the vinegar method.

Wow that is great advice I didn't know this so the recipe will still taste the same, or will there be a slight difference?
