In Response to Re: Sharpening Knives:
aaaahhhhhh "Butchers Steel" sounds like a good name or description for that thing. I sure love it. I have a big machine for sharpening wood carving knives .... it's such a big, powerful thing with various compounds to use on the wheels. I can't imagine using a kitchen knife on it. And I sure would not try to sharpen a carving knife on the butchers steel.

I've seen some of the knifes he used at work and the blades were so worn down from the constant sharpening, the width of the blade was half the size of one of the new ones.Nancy he would hold the steel in one hand and sharpen that blade so fast, you would think he would cut himself.I do hope you can go back to wood carving again, you are so very talented.I used to make dream catchers, four sided dream catchers.I made several for friends that were hunters, using turkey feathers from some of the turkeys they had gotten while hunting. My fingers don't work well enough for that anymore, very frustrating.
