Learn the baker basics
I use parchment paper for every batch of cookies I make.  I absolutely love the stuff.  It lets me make batch after batch of different flavor cookies without washing the metal sheet.

I've used sandwich bags to pipe filling in deviled eggs never thought to use parchment paper.  For making some candies I've used parchment paper to make cleanup easier.  I use a Silpat on a cooky sheet to make cookies.

The one thing about it that makes me crazy is the coupon printed inside each roll of Reynold's parchment ..... it's good for $1.00 off (yeah!!) your next two rolls.  Each of those rolls will contain a coupon good for $1.00 off your next two rolls ...... lol lol lol. 
It's a good thing I bake lots of cookies and use lots of parchment .... the stuff keep piling up in my cupboard.

Nancy, thanks for the tip of reusing the paper, I have used a sheet twice, but just put new dough between the spots where the first dough was, of course I did not have as much room as the first batch. Since I can use the sheet over & over, I will use the paper more often.

Elsie - Just cut the parchment paper to fit* your cookie sheet then drop on the cookie dough.  Ignore any recipe directions to grease or don't grease the sheet.   You can use the paper over and over ... it saves so much work and mess. *I cut the paper to fit my cookie sheets one roll at a time.... I want it ready to go at the right size.

I always cut  the Parchment paper to fit the bottom of the pan for cakes and quick breads...never any problems getting them out of the pan.  It is a great product.  I also got the huge roll of Parchment at Costco.  They told me it was probably a seasonal thing, so we will see if they have it after the holidays.

Fran - shame on me - I use a sheet of parchment until I'm finished for the day .... I wipe it with a paper towel if it looks greasy or something and keep on baking.  When the edges start to brown or curl too much, I'll give up.

And --- s-h-h-h-h-h --Wink--   I don't want this public.  If I plan to start baking again the next day I'll leave a "used" parchment sheet on a baking sheet ready to go again.

For things like the 7 Layer Bars or Magic Layer Bars Parchment paper is the only way to go.  I don't think I would do a batch of brownies without parchment.
I use it to put in a pie crust that I am "blind baking"   put my 1 pound of beans on top of the parchment.  Perfect baked crust every time. (have a jar of what I call "pie beans" in the cabinet the kids make fun of me...until they want a pie.)

Isn't it amazing how until visiting this board I didn't know all the many uses for parchment?  I used it on my cookie sheet and never thought of anything else.

You can also use that or waxed paper when you frost your cakes.Take the cake plate that you will be using and place two sheets of parchment or waxed paper on the cake plate slightly over lapping each other put the cake on top of the paper and frost as usual.when you are done frosting gently pull the paper out from under both sides.The cake will be frosted and the cake plate will be neat and clean.

I use the silicone mats and it makes for a very easy cleanup and they're reuseable.

Mary L ..... you make divinity in the microwave ?!!??  Wow.  Please, please can I have that recipe?
For almost 30 years I've been making peanut brittle in the 'wave but I've never made divinity that way.
I do the difficult, slow, old-fashioned boil-then-beat for divinity.
