I have two I treasure .....
The one I use most frequently is printed on the box of Quakers Oatmeal. It's an easy, perfect recipe.
If you'd like to see it printed here, just let me know.

The other is .....

MARY'S SPICED OATMEAL

375* Bake 10 minutes on ungreased sheet

1 cup butter

1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp cloves

2 cups flour

2 cups quick oatmeal

Usual directions

Roll dough into 1 - 1 1/2 balls.

Roll balls into a mix of cinnamon and sugar

QUAKERS VANISHING OATMEAL COOKIES

350* - ungreased -- 4 doz -- 8 to 10 min.

1/2 lb butter (2 sticks)

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp salt

3 cups oatmeal

1 cup raisins

Heat oven to 350*. Beat butter and sugars til creamy.

Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add combined

flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Mix well.

Stir in oatmeal and raisins. Drop by rounded

tablespoons onto ungreased sheet. Bake 8 to 10 min.

Cool 1 min. on sheet and remove to rack.

I love the Quaker oatmeal cookie recipe, but have forgotten about it. Going to push that up my list of things to bake!!!

This was the first cookie recipe I made all by myself (the other one was Nestle tollhouse), 50+ years ago, I think these 2 were the only cookies baked except for the special Easter & Christmas treats.

That's Quakers own recipe ..... so very good. That's the one I bake probably two or three times each month.
Fran - I did not bake an oatmeal cookie until I was probably above 40-45 years old. My very first cookie was a
Snickerdoodle in 1960 or 61.
hee hee - I wonder how many cookies I've baked since 1960?
Of course, I didn't turn into a full time baker

until about 3 years ago.

I am baking Oatmeal cookies for my dad for his Father's Day gift this year! They are his favorite! Thankfully they ship well in warmer weather.

this recipe has been used by my whole family for more than sixty years----------it was in a SPRY(a brand of vegetable shortening) cookbook that my grandmother had----------it used to be in my swapped recipes file--------but they never found it for me----------i tried to post it 3 times since the 'big change' but so far it hasn't registered----i'll probably try again ----------because i really was spoiled by the old site---------just walk back to my computer and print out the recipe i wanted----------not having to dig thru everything ----------the grands tend to be messy bakers so i just throw them away when we've finished

                                                 Lever House Macaroons

1 cup each                       vegetable shortening
                                       brown sugar
                                     granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon each          salt
                                       vanilla
                                       cinnamon

2                                     eggs

1/2 cup                            chopped nuts

1 1/4 cup                         flour

1 teaspoon                      soda

3 cups                             rolled oats

Combine first seven (7) ingredients and beat well. Stir in nuts. Sift flour and soda together and add to mixture, blending well. Add oats and mix.

Measure level tablespoon of dough on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 mins.

Makes about 6 dozen.
