Jelly Roll Pan??? Help please

This morning I went to my neighborhood WalMart looking for that elusive jelly roll pan. There was nothing in the cookware dept ...... well, nothing except some larger than usual cookie sheets with little edges. Do they count? Would that sheet with the tiny edges work?
What's the exact size I need?
I went to the Wilton department and there was nothing that would even pass for a jelly roll pan

I'd sure appreciate any measurements, advice, anything. I'll just go order one from that fancy cook ware catalog I get.

Most Jelly Roll pans do have very shallow edges. They are usually used for very shallow cakes as they most likely will be rolled or cut and stacked.
I have several pans the jelly roll pan size is approx. 11X15 and I have a half sheet pan that is about 12X15 give or take a bit, these measurements are from the inside.
I got the half sheet pan to make the brownie recipe. I got it at Sam's Club or Costco can't remember which one.
So the pan you describe is most likely a jelly roll pan.
(I do have an extra jelly roll pan I would be happy to send you.)
Find out if your church can get one from their supplier it would most likely be less expensive and of better quality. You want one that has a bit of weight to it.

I haven't made a jelly roll in years but when I did I just used my cookie sheet and it worked out fine.

Good grief, Nikki, your help and advice finally sunk in!! After reading you post I wondered about those old cookie sheets that I haven't used for years... I went digging in the storage in my garage. I found my six (shiny metal - not coated in any way) edged sheets and they measure 12x17.
Six heavy, edged sheets in nearly perfect condition - I just "stored" them because I prefer a FLAT, not-so-heavy cookie sheet.

And - more blushing here - I found a brand new Wilton cake pan - 12x18x2 deep - I bought that ages (years?) ago, put it in storage and forgot it existed. So I think I own jelly roll sheets?

Like I said - your help and advice are wonderful..... your patience is a treasure. Thank you

Most of the bar cookies that say to use a jelly roll pan can be done in a 13X9 the cookie will be thicker unless you can cut back on the dough. If you do that you could probably get 2 batches from the 13X9. Watch the bake time. In a case like this a bit undercooked would be better than over baked.

It is great that you found the pans you want/need. I am worse about buying books than cooking pans. But the end result is the same. Much money spent and can't keep up with what you have. We need an inventory!

Hey Pat -- what sort of books do you buy? Cook books?
I used to collect cook books and had hundreds and hundreds. Now I live in a small condo there's just no room and 95% of them are gone. Someday I'll make a list of them.
hee hee ... I do collect fiction paperbacks by authors I love.

Nancy, I have boxes of cook books in the attic that I really should donate. But when I go to do it I start looking through the box and think I might want to use this someday....(isn't that the story that is told on that TLC show about hoarders) Ok, I have just convinced myself that this weekend they get cleared out.
I do have pans in the basement that should go as well. There is a woman at my Curves that bakes cakes and I have several in shapes that she might be able to use.
I really do need to "Clean House". Would dearly love someone to come in and "force" me to be brutal with my examinations of these items. May have to schedule a weekend with my daughter!

Nikki - this afternoon I was back in the garage digging for a pan big enough for the caramel corn I was making ..... whew - that garage just HAS to be cleaned out. What on earth do I with all that stuff? Stuff like 8 or 9 skillets ???

We moved often enough that I got tired of lugging around all my cookbooks, so I whittled my collection down to about 25 several years ago. Now with recipe access online, I find I don't really need cookbooks, except for a few tried and true recipes in these cookbooks. We downsized our house 9 years ago, and don't have basements in California, so my "collecting" years are over! And I am okay with that!!!

I wish I had a map of the places I have put things. I go to look for something just KNOWING where it is and low and behold it isn't where I just know I put it! Have no idea who comes in and moves this stuff around but I just know it's getting moved somehow!

I have come to the conclusion that I just have to start getting rid of stuff. Either getting a dumpster into the driveway for a while or donations to Goodwill, or both. With my husbands health declining and not knowing how long we can stay in the house it is much easier to get rid of stuff when you are under no time restrictions. Much easier to go through things. Think I need my daughter to help me be honest in what can be tossed or kept.

I do hate to get rid of cookbooks. (any book for that matter) But I can't keep everything.
Makes me yearn for a nice balmy spring day when I can open the attic windows and start the purge.

I keep thinking that I just might use one of those books...but they have been in the attic for quite some time and I have not had a need for them so the logic side of my brain says get rid of them, donate them so someone can use them...then the not so logical side of the brain says keep them, you never know when you will want the recipe for..what ever is there.

I know in my mind that if I needed a recipe that is not in one of the books I have at my disposal in the kitchen pantry I have one of the largest resources for recipes literally right here at my fingertips. It is faster to type in "Impossible Flan" hit search and have a recipe come up than try to find it, if it is even in one of those old books. (I just double checked..it is Impossible Cake..half cake and half flan..sounds like an interesting recipe)

There are lots of other things that need to go first though so I will hang on to the books for a while.

I have a funny memory as I know what recipe is where and in what book. One of our upstairs bedroom has the walls lined with bookcases. I couldn't stand to see them bare so I filled them with cookbooks. When hubby was still working he would come home in the middle of the night and have to unload our bed as his side had at least 5 books laying on his side. LOL
