How many of you own those mesh, metal cooling racks for cookies?  Does everyone use them? I just started using them a few years ago and now I couldn't get along without them.  I really like

Hi ELSA;
I, like you, use my mesh cooling rack, like a trivet , to hold hot casseroles & pans( wok) for table service.I put a large hot pad or a folded newspaper,or kitchen towell,under it, toprotect my table's surface.
B.T.W. You/I/we wouldn't have trouble w/missing cookies if we weren't such good bakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I even use mine to double as table protectors for hot dishes. I found out the hard way last Thanksgiving what a hot pan does to a dinning room table. TOOTHPASTE to the rescue! Yes the cooling racks are a MUST in this house and anyone caught snatching a cookie before they are cooled had better hide because they get to clean the kitchen after I'm through baking! Funny thing though I can never catch them in the act but the cookies sure disappear. Sometimes I wonder if Elves or Leprechauns don't live here!

Hey Ann .... " I use his empty kitchen chaitr to hold the next raw cookie dough filled cookie sheet;"
I put every unbaked ,filled cookie sheet - I can manage three at a time - in the 'fridge. I try hard to bake
cold cookie dough.
When I run out of cookie sheet space in the 'fridge, I just roll dough into balls, toss them into a plastic wrapped pile then into the cold.
I try hard to see that every cookie I bake is COLD when it goes into the over.
Is this the correct or "smart" way to bake? I don't know ... I don't have a clue.... it's just the way I do it and I'm
happy with the results.

I can't use chairs or even the front of my counters because I have DOGS! They will steal cookie dough or cookies given half a chance. I put my cooling racks on the sideboard in the dining room way up high. Bonus: they make the house smell good.

Sometimes I use cooling racks and sometimes just cool cookies on a sheet of aluminum foil spread out on the counter.

I always use cooling racks. I even put the hot cookie sheets on one while I transfer them. Didn't we have a story on the web site about someone cooling their cookies on an ironing board?

I use a pizza screen, made of metal mesh 7 allows no folding cookie fall through

I don't have the mesh cooling racks. Haven't really seen those around here. But I do have the regular racks. One has folding legs so I set that one up and slide another under it for a two tier rack. They hold quite a few cookies and are usually cool enough to transfer to a plate by the time the next batch is ready. The parchment idea sounds workable too. Thank you. That reminds me I better start baking this week if i want to get done before Christmas LOL.

At church this morning a dear, special woman asked me if I'd make cookies for her daughter's bridal shower. I was delighted!! I'm going to give her two cooling racks, two cookie sheets (hope I can find some good ones) and a little recipe box with all of my cookie recipes tucked in.

And the wife of our fantastic youth minister asked if I'd make cookies for the celebration of their son's graduation - the same week as the bridal shower ..... and on Easter Sunday we have a big dinner after services. As usual I'll take broccoli salad and COOKIES.
I think I should get off the computer and start baking.

I'm still using cooling racks I received for my wedding shower 41 years ago. LOL I love them for not only cooling cookies, muffins, etc., but also when drizzling frosting on baked goods. I put waxed paper or parchment paper under them to catch the drips and crumbs too.
