I tried Carnation Key Lime Cream Pie Kit today and I have a review for the Carnation folks: not enough graham crumbs included. it was not enough to go up the side of my pie pan (a glass 9 inch) let alone saving some for garnish--however if you have extra crumbs on hand or perhaps even some vanilla wafer cookies you could use for the sides you can get by with it. also--they give everything on the instructions you will need EXCEPT they do not mention that you will need 3 mixing bowls--a small one for melting the butter and mixing the crumbs and 2 large ones--one for the filling and one for the topping. Here is a hint also: the filling gets thick FAST--but continue to beat it for the 3 minutes because it will change texture and get very smooth and glossy--HOWEVER! the topping needs to be in a really BIG bowl because it sprays all over the place and takes longer to thicken, but if you beat it for the total time they say it will turn into butter(use your own judgement and beat it until it "peaks")! I cut a minute off the time and it would have been even less if I had chilled the can of milk first! Over all I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. and it tasted pretty good from what I could get out of licking the bowl!

I have made the chocolate one and had no problems with the crust.  There is a crust a filling and a topping so I just figured I would be using several bowl to make the pie.  When I make a pie from scratch I use about the same number for the crust, filling and topping and for my peanut butter pie I use a saucepan to heat the cream.
Sometimes making things from a kit are not really easier than one made from scratch it just makes it easy because all the ingredients you need are in one box.  They do save time because all the ingredients are measured out.

The Chocolate one was really pretty good and I have another in the cupboard and if I need a fast dessert I will make it again.  This is a mix that I would keep on hand for an "emergency" dessert. I do not always keep cream or cream cheese in the house and that is what my  usual pie needs.  I also have the lemon pound cake kit again just in case I get an urge to bake and have no ingredients that I can put together into an acceptable dessert.
