Amanda, Welcome to VBB!
I use fresh most of the time
Because to me it has more flavor and is more fresh!
So feel free to subsitute it!
Enjoy this site!

Keep in mind that fresh apples will probably add more moisture to the cookies than the dried ones will.  You might have to add a bit more flour if the dough seems too wet

I would try a half batch of  the cookies using fresh.  If it doesn't work you won't lose too much.
I made this recipe and sure didn't like dried apples.
I use LOTS of dried fruits of all sorts but I don't care for the apple.

Missouri is having a very sweet, very awesome time ..Wink... the St. Louis Cardinals are in the World Series - first game tomorrow night.
(I'm not a baseball fan but I know about this because I watch St. Louis TV channels and they talk of nothing else)

Hey Retaj --- none of us was "correcting" you.  I certainly don't have the authority or the knowledge to correct anyone (Wink unless they talked about baking cookies on top of their flat top kitchen range Tongue out)   I was posting my opinion.

Amanda, it's great to have you as a member.  Good luck on your cookies.  Please let us know the results.

I'm certain all of us will know the results of the baseball games over and over and over and over and over.

Amanda -- Here's a recipe for cookie BARS that calls for fresh applies:
(Frances sent me to the newspaper printing cookie recipes)

State Journal-Register - Springfield, IL
Caramel Apple Cheesecake Cookie Bars
From Kasey Schwartz of Chatham
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Golden Delicious apples, chopped
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 jar caramel topping
Crumb Topping:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cubed and softened
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Press evenly into 13-by-9-inch pan or cookie sheet with edges. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
In large bowl, beat cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Add eggs, 1 at a time. Next add vanilla. Mix until combined. Pour over warm crust.
In small bowl, stir together chopped apples, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Spoon evenly over cream cheese mixture.
Crumb topping: In small bowl, combine flour, oats and brown sugar. Add cubed butter and combine. Crumble over cream cheese mixture.
Bake 30 minutes, or until filling is set. Drizzle with caramel topping and store in refrigerator.
Makes 12 to 18.

Cheesecake Bars - love this recipe. I don't have a springform pan, so I can't make traditional cheesecake. I'm always on the lookout for recipes such as this, Nancy. Thanks for sharing.

I'm a semi baseball fan and was happy to see the Cardinals win last night.  We only watched the last 2 innings but they were great.  If they can keep it up and finish in 4 games that would be awesome.
