Hello everyone. This thanksgiving I plan on making these sweet dough pies. The only problem is I can't figure out how to make them to where when they're done, they're soft and moist and without a crunch to it. Sort of cake-like. Any ideas on what I can do to the dough?

This is the recipe I am using that I found a few days ago:

5 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk

and here's the source http://acadianatable.com/2013/06/24/blackberry-sweet-dough-pies/
there are also pics of the specific pies I am making and the instructions.

thanks.

I did not click on the link however I did read the entire recipe. This recipe should be triple checked as you follow directions. It should turn out find if you carefully follow ALL directions.

Looking at the recipe you will have a bit of a crunch to these just because of the way they are baked.
The dough is rolled out, like a pie crust. It is then cut, filled and baked.  Because you are placing a dough on a pan that will be exposed to heat the bottom and top will form a brown crust when they bake.
You might be able to minimize that by using a butter flavored Crisco or other shortening as that will not brown as much as butter will.
You might want to try reducing the heat in the oven after the first half of baking that might reduce the browning as well.
I do not think you can completely eliminate crunch but I do think they will not be as flaky as a regular pie crust would be.
