Does anyone know a good substitute for brown sugar in Toll House cookies? I'm all out and don't want to make another trip to the store.

Making your own brown sugar is easy.
1 Cup regular white sugar and add several tablespoons of molasses to the sugar, mix or "whiz" in food processor.  Adding more molassess will give you a dark brown sugar, less a lighter brown sugar.

I've heard of this one before but I didn't have molasses either so it didn't help me.  I hope it works for you!

I thought everyone had an old, dusty, stuck in the back of the pantry, when and why did I ever buy this, bottle of molasses.
The stuff does not go bad and you never know when the urge to make a batch of Sticky Ginger Squares will strike.
Use it for making Rye bread, gingerbread and a whole host of other goodies.

Thank you so much for that quick fix Nikki.  I will make note of it, have run out of brown sugar once or twice myself.

Happy New Year to all.
