He is Adult Day Care today so I hope he ate a good lunch.  I was out to lunch with the Alzheimer's support group so dinner will be something light.   Not sure what at this point. Will have to stand in front of the refrigerator to see what jumps out at me.

That stand in front of the fridge often works for me, Nikki~lol!

a new Chinese restaurant opened last sunday       just at the end of the next street over            it would actually be walking distance  less than 1/4 mi      if only my back were better
they do deliver but only over $18  that would be a lot of food for just one
I think i'll order off their lunch menu       (they left menus on our doors)
because I can get soup , spring roll and fried rice w/ the entrée   for about $7
so I can try a variety    for less to see if I even like their food  first

That close would be a temptation for me.
I usually judge a Chinese restaurant on how they do Hot and Sour Soup and Eggroll or Springrolls.  If they can do that most of the time most of the other stuff is pretty good.

Slightly early but celebrating my birthday tonight.  I have a caregiver that is going to stay with my husband and I am going out with my sister and her husband.
Steakhouse so I think I will get a Ribeye that has to be my favorite.  They have Prime rib that will be another option.
I just made a light dessert that we can have back here.
I saw the recipe while waiting to get my haircut.
I made a Lemon Icebox cake. At least that is what the magazine called it.
Layered Greek Style yogurt that I flavored with lemon with Graham Crackers.  I will drizzle a chocolate ganache over it as soon as the chocolate melts.  I do like chocolate and lemon together and if they don't...all the more for me later!

Thank you for the birthday wishes.
I had a good time last night.
Had a ribeye steak and baked sweet potato.
I made an interesting desert for when we got home. I did not drizzle the chocolate.
Tonight is chili.

This is the dessert I mad for last night. I am going to write it as I made it changes and all.  It was from Good Housekeeping. (boy has that magazine changed!)

Lemon Icebox Cake.
2 1/4 Cups Greek Style yogurt. I used 0 fat.
1 Tb lemon juice
zest of 1 lemon
1 tsp lemon extract
1 Tb sugar or to taste.
6 graham crackers. ( mine took 1 full, 1 half and 3 of the small pieces)
In a bowl combine yogurt, half the zest, extract, lemon juice, sugar.  Stir to combine.
Line a loaf pan with plastic wrap allowing enough to hang over the sides.
Place graham crackers on the bottom of the pan.
Place some of the yogurt on top of the crackers and spread to cover.
Layer the rest I think I used more crackers and ended with crackers on top.
Top with the rest of the zest.
Bring the plastic wrap over the top and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

We're having beef stew again.  They had another great deal at the grocery store that I just couldn't resist.  It's such an easy meal, just prep the meat and veggies and stick it all in the crock pot and go about your day.

I am having company tonight.
It started out that it was just going to be my niece but has grown to add 2 more. I was going to experiment with a dessert recipe so I did not plan on so many but the way the cake smells it might not make it to dinner at all.
Since the cake will be the STAR at dinner I am just going to do some frozen spinach mozzarella ravioli and a salad with bread and a bruschetta to nibble on before dinner. I like the bruschetta mix on top of my salad so that should go well.
I just can't wait for this cake!!! I will post the recipe under..what else Chocoholics..

Ann H - I like your attitude about romance.  I agree, it isn't about going out to eat, but working together to make the best out of a situation.  The most romantic meal I had with my husband was on Father's Day when we were expecting our second child.  I had a lot of complications with the pregnancy, so he barbecued outdoors and set up a lovely table outside with candles - it was such a special gesture and on  "his day".
